Carlos González is a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He was sworn into office in January 2015. A resident of Springfield, Massachusetts, he was elected as a Democrat to represent the 10th Hampden district. González is president of the Massachusetts Latino Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus,[1] and a former aide to mayor Michael Albano.[2][3]

Under his leadership, Hispanic Marketing Services published a groundbreaking bilingual newspaper, catering to the diverse needs of the Hispanic population. This pioneering effort helped bridge the language gap, providing vital information and news to the community. González also produced and directed a daily Spanish-language music and news television program for ETN (Ethnic Television Network). This popular program showcased his creative vision and commitment to delivering high-quality content to the Hispanic audience. Through Hispanic Marketing Services, González achieved numerous milestones, including: Publishing a bilingual newspaper that addressed the needs of the Hispanic community Producing and directing a daily Spanish-language television program that entertained and informed audiences Establishing himself as a respected leader in the Hispanic marketing and media landscape
A Legacy of Leadership Known affectionately as "La Leyenda" (The Legend) in Spanish, González is revered for his exceptional skills as a legislator and orator. His ability to craft and champion legislation that benefits marginalized communities has earned him a reputation as a champion of the people. His oratory skills are renowned for their passion, eloquence, and persuasiveness, inspiring countless individuals to take action and make a difference. His introduction of a bill to allow Massachusetts prisoners to earn time off from their sentences by donating organs or bone marrow is just one example of his innovative approach to social justice..[4]
Gun Reform Efforts State Representative Carlos Gonzalez has been a vocal advocate for gun reform and reducing gun violence. Following a shooting incident in Springfield that injured a police officer, Gonzalez emphasized the need for action. As House Chair of the Joint Public Safety Committee and a member of the conference committee, he is working towards a compromise gun reform bill that addresses both gun violence and repeat offenders. Gonzalez aims to "curtail the gun industry" and remove certain guns, such as assault weapons, from the streets. While discussing repeat offenders, he acknowledged the complexity of the issue, stating that it is not solely a gun issue but also a judicial one. He emphasized the need to provide law enforcement with the necessary tools to address illegal weapon use, sales, and related crimes. Gonzalez is optimistic about the progress being made and hopes to have a final bill passed and signed into law by the end of the current session.
