Marcus is an incredibly solid player because he combines athleticism and strength with fundamentals. He has great natural ability and can do many things that bigger players can do. He is a very unique player because of his ability to utilize his quickness, jumping ability, and power to score from guard position. He is an excellent penetrator who has the ability to pull up and shoot the mid-range jumper consistently. He paces himself very well and wears down his opponents. He can play either guard spots and can posts up bigger players than him. His strength and jumping ability give him the advantage of defending players bigger then him. He can bench press a maximum of 450 pounds and can bench press 225 pounds an incredible 31 times. He has a 41 inch vertical leap. He can score and he is an all around friendly person and has an incredible winning attitude.

Summer 2001: Marcus played in the Sonny Hill Classic where he scored 47 points in one game against NBA players. He played in the ACMT Pro Exposure Camp and had the following statistics:

1999-2001 Year: He played with the Hinesville Basketball Club (Ft. Stewart, GA) traveling team the last two seasons where his team played against Georgia colleges and military teams. He won 6 MVP awards in 10 tournaments and had the following statistics:

He was named WVIAC Most Valuable Player.

Junior year (1996-1998) He received a scholarship to play at San Diego State University but transferred to the University of Idaho after one season due to lack of time. He had to sit out one year at the University of Idaho due to NCAA transfer regulations but continued taking courses at the University before finishing his college basketball career at West Virginia State University.

Freshman & Sophomore Years (1994-1996) At College of Southern Idaho, he was ranked one of the top 20 Junior College players in the country where he averaged 19.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting an incredible 59.7% from the field in his sophomore year. He was First Team All-Region in the tournament his sophomore year. He scored 39 points against the team that NBA player Keon Clark played on. Despite playing alongside Atlanta Hawks First-Round Draft pick Ed Gray, Marcus still averaged 12.0 points per game (Gray average over 26 points per game). He led the country in field goal percentage shooting an amazing 62.7% his freshmen year. His performance at CSI resulted in a scholarship to San Diego State University.

High School (1993-1994) Marcus averaged 26.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 4.0 steals per game. He was named Idaho State high school Player of the Year in 1994 (Mr. Basketball) and was a USA Today Top Player in Idaho.
