Traffic signs on the territory of Czechoslovakia date back to Austria-Hungary. The history of some elements of traffic signs goes back to the Middle Ages. The first attempts to introduce systematic orientation markings date back to the third quarter of the 19th century. In 1910, the first regulation was issued in Bohemia, without much success, requiring the placement of warning signs in accordance with the concluded international agreement.
