Francesco Abbadessa (born on July 14 1869) is an Italian chess player and theorist.
His profession was an accountant. He won a correspondence chess championship (1896-99), which was organized by the newspaper «Gazzetta del Popolo della Domenica», and also won the match against Vittorio Torre in Turin. (draft) Also known in Italy as a problemist, who created approximately 130 moves - two, three and moremovers. In 1897 he founded "L’Eco degli Scacchi" newspaper. He was a chess sections editor in many famous newspapers and chess games commentator. In 1896, became a co-founder and Chess Group secretary of Sicilian Alpine Club - later, its president from 1898 to 1900. A Palermo Chess Academy member since 1913.
