Abhijit Iyer-Mitra is a defence analyst and journalist who covers the Indian defence landscape. He is the son of the first woman Indian Administrative Service collector of Tamil Nadu, V. S. Chandralekha. He currently works for the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi[1].

In 2018, he was arrested by the Odisha Police for commenting on the sculptures in the Konark Sun Temple[2]. The case highlighted the arbitrary way in which governments used Hate speech laws in India to arrest political opponents, journalists and dissidents[3].
