Ronald "Ron" W. Hovsepian (born circa 1961) is an American business executive.[1] Until 2024, he was the chief executive officer of Indigo Agriculture.[2] He was previously the president and chief executive officer of Novell, Inc., and the president, chief executive officer, and director of IntraLinks Inc.[3]

Education and career[edit]

Born around 1962, Hovsepian received a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College.[1]

He started his career at IBM Corporation, where he held a number of management and executive positions over a 16-year period including Worldwide General Manager in IBM Marketing and Services for the Distribution Industry segment, managing product development of hardware and software, sales and marketing, and services.

From 2000 to 2003 he worked in venture capital as a Managing Director with Internet Capital Group.

He joined Novell in 2003 as executive vice president and president, worldwide field operations. From 2005 to 2011, he was the president and chief executive officer of Novell, Inc. Hovsepian led the negotiations that resulted in the controversial Microsoft and Novell deal announced in October 2006.[4][5] In 2010, Novell announced that it had agreed to be acquired by Attachmate. Hovsepian left Novell on April 25, 2011 after the acquisition.

In early 2012, Hovsepian was appointed president, chief executive officer, and director of Intralinks Inc.[3] Under his leadership Intralinks developed Intralinks VIA[6] and Intralinks Dealnexus.[7][8] He led Intralinks during its acquisitions of PE Nexus, MergerID,[9] and docTrackr.[10] He remained at Intralinks through its acquisition by Synchronoss, leaving in April 2017.[11]

In 2019, he was serving as an executive partner at Flagship Pioneering.[1] Hovsepian became the CEO of Indigo Agriculture in September 2020.[12] Hovespian took over Indigo from CEO David Perry.[13] He was succeeded by Dean Banks as CEO of Indigo Ag Inc. in January 2024, while remaining on the board of the company.[2]

Board memberships[edit]

He is on the board of Indigo AG.[2] Hovsepian has been a member of the Board of Directors for ANSYS[14] since 2012, and is the lead independent director. Previously, he was non-executive chairman of ANSYS. He has been a member of the Board of Advisors for Cloud Technology Partners,[15] a professional services firm in the field of cloud initiatives, since August, 2015. He was a member of the board for ANN Inc.[16] from 1998 – August, 2015. He also was the non-executive chairman of ANN Inc. from 2005 until 2015.

He was also previously on the board of Skillsoft.[1] He joined the board of Pegasystems in 2019.[1]
