Derby 150 Edit-a-thon?[edit]
Is anyone up for an edit-a-thon to celebrate Derby 150? Here's a few ideas I have about doing this:
- Run it during the Kentucky Derby Festival – April 20 (Thunder Over Louisville) through May 4/5 (Derby Weekend)
- The work would be focused in 3 areas, from highest to lowest priority:
- Improving and creating Derby-related articles
- Cleaning up known issues in WP Louisville and WP Kentucky articles (there are thousands!)
- Generally improving and/or creating articles within these projects
- As there is international interest in the Derby, especially this one, this could be fortuitous timing for our needs. It would make good sense to inform the entire Wiki community about it.
Thoughts? There's not a lot of time to organize it, but I think it's doable. We could create a one-pager for the event, perhaps hostable in WP Louisville. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 06:35, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- I just added some thoughts on what to do in this same topic in WT:WikiProject Louisville. Let's concentrate the discussion there. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 07:45, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
Old Issues[edit]
For the sake of the WP:DERBY150 drive I'm putting together and beyond, I created a list of WP Kentucky's issues that are over a decade old. This currently shows included articles that had tags placed on them from 2006 to 2013. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 04:48, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

Does anyone know why the subject article is getting such an extremely high number of views? This has been going on for months. Of course, it's great when a Kentucky article gets a lot of attention, but this amount doesn't make sense. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 18:38, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- OK, now Neatsville is #1 on the Popular pages list. In my estimation at this point, the views for that article are illegitimate, and the true #1 is Abraham Lincoln. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 22:45, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- This is extremely weird and unusual. I really doubt that the views are from humans as articles with a lot of human traffic usually have a lot of edits, but this article has only had 6 edits within the past four years. It’s also strange how this has been going on for the past several years. Kentuckian |💬 05:38, 11 June 2024 (UTC)
- Weird indeed. I'm convinced by information known so far that we're dealing with effectively bot hits. There is an ongoing discussion at the Village Pump about this. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 08:25, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Per the abovementioned Wikipedia:Village pump (miscellaneous)#Inexplicably popular article (by views), I have temporarily boldly moved this article from Neatsville, Kentucky to Neatsville, Adair County, Kentucky, to see whether this breaks the disruptive pattern of pageview generation. I will move it back to its original title in one week (at 16:00, 24 June 2024 (UTC)). Cheers! BD2412 T 16:22, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
