No mention of this redirect or topic in the target article. Also, does not seem to be a name used in a foreign language for the character, either. Steel1943 (talk) 23:38, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak retarget to Mitchell's hopping mouse, the best target I can find, if thats not helpful, just delete it - TheChampionMan1234 04:11, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't even remember why I created this redirect. Honestly, it can be deleted, as it doesn't seem to add any real value. Nickin/talk 17:33, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not especially French. - TheChampionMan1234 04:46, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep with {{R from misspelling|of=Putin}}. Any Canadian who doesn't know how to spell Putin's name would probably guess this first (see Poutine for why; it's like the national snack food of Canada).  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  05:56, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not French, but a possible misspelling. Possibly one for {{R from misspelling}}. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 05:57, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The comedian Rick Mercer once managed to ask George W Bush his opinion about the support from Canadian Prime Minister "Jean Poutine" to which Bush said he was honored to hear it. Some came to Bush's defense, saying he didn't hear Mercer very well and thought he was talking about Putin. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 06:00, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to User profile (non-admin closure) (talk) 16:47, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unlikely redirect to project space, possible retargets could include user profile, online identity, personal home page, and so on. I do not know where would be the best choice. - TheChampionMan1234 03:30, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to User profile.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  05:02, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate per nom -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 07:30, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate and include a self-referential hatnote to the present target. None of the possible targets seem more likely than the others, but it is a useful search term. Thryduulf (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 11:38, 1 September 2014‎
  • Retarget to User profile, which is really just a synonym. "Online identity" is an abstract concept, though certainly a related one, and a personal home page simply isn't a user page, which implies the page of a user of someone else's site. Online identity is already linked from User profile as a See also, which is appropriate. Absent evidence that anyone commonly refers to online identities or home pages as "user pages," let's not overcomplicate things. --BDD (talk) 14:26, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to User profile, per excellent points by BDD. A "user page" is a specific thing, different from an overall online identity, and different from someone's own website. If there is any confusion, there can be a separate User profile (disambiguation) page to cover these. - WPGA2345 - 22:23, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if this really stands for anything. A web search suggests Managed Leased Line Network or a song by sweater beats, but probably not Medellin Oiyarbepsy (talk) 02:50, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wolverine (comics)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget as proposed. Thryduulf (talk) 11:48, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that this redirect be retargeted to Wolverine (disambiguation)#Marvel Comics media per the current ambiguity of the wording of WP:NCC, and since the disambiguator "(comics)" seems ambiguous and could refer to Wolverine (comic book) or Wolverine (character). Please refer to the recent move discussion for more details. Steel1943 (talk) 00:33, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support based on the logic from the noted move request. "Comics" can be read as reference to either the published comic or the character equally, so the redirect to the disamb page makes logical sense. --MASEM (t) 00:35, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: disambiguation serves to disambiguate titles that are ambiguous; Wolverine (comics) is ambiguous (does it mean Wolverine in comics, the Wolverine comic book, comics in which Wolverine appeared, or an article on the Wolverine character, whose origin was in comics?) Curly Turkey ⚞¡gobble!⚟ 00:45, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per inherent ambiguity of Wolverine (comics). Note also that WP:Naming conventions (comics) and WP:Manual of Style/Comics (which also covers naming) are directly-conflicting POV forks, subject to ongoing merge/reconciliation discussion.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  05:05, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per nom; "comics" is ambiguous in this case -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 07:32, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per request, logical move - adamstom97 (talk) 07:57, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per request. Unreal7 (talk) 15:48, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Until recently, this lemma was the title of the Wolverine (character) article. There are over 2,000 links that need to be fixed.[1] This retargetting would affect a lot of stuff. Slow down, everyone. King of all fruit (talk) 06:53, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • @King of all fruit: A result of links pointing towards a disambiguation page isn't necessarily a reason to halt a move/redirect retarget. Granted yes, we best fix the links while we have a chance per WP:FIXDABLINKS, but not fixing the links shouldn't necessarily hinder a redirect from targeting a possibly more appropriate target. That, and if this retarget happens, the disambiguation page will soon later automatically be tagged with an {{Incoming links}} template, allowing editors to resolve the links with haste. Steel1943 (talk) 14:58, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Neutral on the proposal, but please fix the links first. Cheers! bd2412 T 01:08, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
  • @BD2412: Thanks for that note, considering that when I stated what I said above, the dab solver still functioned, but it doesn't anymore. Steel1943 (talk) 01:24, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've put in a bot request. Cheers! bd2412 T 01:26, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
  • The title, "Wolverine (comics)" has either been about or redirected to the character for years, so the existence of links intending the comic book is a matter of carelessness on the part of the editors who made those links. The overwhelming majority should be the character. bd2412 T 16:02, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
  • @BD2412: I agree with that statement 100%, but since there are some exceptions, I've decided to manually start some of the disambiguation process. At this point, I've disambiguated about 200-ish of the 1300-ish links that were in the article space, but yes, at least 3 of the ones I have corrected thus far intended to direct towards Wolverine (comic book).
