Fire Departments & WP:INHERENT[edit]

I have been involved in multiple discussions about whether a certain fire department meets the WP:N guidelines. I am of the opinion that fire departments, particularly those of cities and counties, fall under WP:INHERENT. I am wondering where a good place to carry this conversation on would be. It would be helpful to have it in one location rather than having it pop up on multiple different fire department talk pages. --Zackmann08 (talk) 00:18, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ORGSIG would seem to apply. If you disagree, I think that the talkpage of WP:N would be the best place to start. RudolfRed (talk) 01:07, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is WikiSource citable?[edit]

If I find info on Wikisource that I want to use in an article here, how much of a WP:RS is it? Buffaboy (talk) 04:17, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

there is no provenance of the items on wikisource and so being user generate , wikisource itself is not a reliable source. if you have access to the original documents and the document itself is a reliable source, you can use that. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 09:08, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File move[edit]

I was wondering how I can move the file name. I have uploaded file File:Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six cover art.jpg, originally aiming to be the cover art for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, However, I was so careless that I only named the file Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six cover art instead of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege cover art. Since they are two different things and may lead to confusion, I would like to know is there a way I can rename the file. AdrianGamer (talk) 09:00, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@AdrianGamer: Add a {{Rename media}} template to the file page, and an admin or file mover will change the name for you. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:08, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. AdrianGamer (talk) 09:55, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Filtering "what links here"[edit]

Is there a way to avoid displaying links in templates (vs. in the body of the article)? Clarityfiend (talk) 09:53, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately not. It's a frequently requested feature. Here are some of the requests:

Rats. Thanks anyway. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:06, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Article Mohammed Kozbar[edit]

Hi there,

A message keeps coming up for the article Mohammed Kozbar that keeps saying that there are not enough links or proof for the references. I am not sure why even though all the content in there has been linked and referenced. Can someone advice please. I believe we followed all the guide lines

Thanks

Ahmed077 (talk) 10:03, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ahmed077. I see you have worked out how to remove the maintenance tag. In my view the article is still under-referenced, and I am going to add a tag saying so. The problem is that only one of the seven English references (the "Young Person's Guide to Religion" one) says anything substantial about him. The rest, those that mention him at all, just say that he is a trustee of the Finsbury Park Mosque, and then proceed to quote him. You need at least one more source that says as much about him as the Young Person's Guide one, and then every single one of the facts mentioned in the first paragraph needs to be cited to a reliable source.
On a different topic, I am concerned by your use of the word "we": are several of you using the same account? It is of course fine for several people to be working on the same article, but it is not permitted for several people to share an account. If there are several of you using the account Ahmed077, please create and use separate accounts for each individual. --ColinFine (talk) 00:34, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

My new company[edit]

HI There, I would like to create an entry for my new company how can I do that? THanks, Sara — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sara Henrichs (talk • contribs) 12:15, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sara, its simply. Wait a few years and if your you company becomes notable then other editors will create the article for you. If you try and do this yourself it will get deleted on the basis of COI and non-notability. In the mean time, a placement in a trade directory is more appropriate than here (since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so wrong media).--Aspro (talk) 14:33, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Spiral Dynamics and censorship[edit]

I am very upset that the legitimately constructed, historically and conceptually accurate information about spiral dynamics (Spiral Dynamics) has been deleted with no debate, rational or recourse to re-instate the page. I have been a financial supporter of Wikipedia in the past and will no longer do so until such pages have been restored. I will also actively campaign against the use and support of Wikipedia with all of my friends and at public appearances until this arbitrary and gross censorship is fixed. It appears that Wikipedia now supports book burning and the re-writing of history. Shame on those responsible as such deletions go against the very spirit and nature of Wikipedia as a collective commons for knowledge.

Contrary to your assertion, there was a deletion debate: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Spiral_Dynamics. The WMF doesn't take money in exchange for hosting promotional content. --NeilN talk to me 15:22, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

I am new at this so thanks for helping. I have tried to add 3 references but they seem to not appear. If I don't do this correctly, it will be deleted.Triageart (talk) 15:19, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Triageart. From what I can see, you've tried to add links to home pages of websites that contain user generated content (wikis). These are not reliable sources. --NeilN talk to me 15:28, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming this is aboout Jude Millien – you added two sets of reference tags. The first had no content, like this <ref> </ref>, and was responsible for the error message. I have removed it. The second is to a web page which does not mention Jude Millien. Maproom (talk) 15:33, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Title reversion not showing[edit]

I have unsuccessfully attempted to undo a change to an article's title. The article used to be Sophia Gardens. Another user changed to title to Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. I think that this change is unnecessary and undesirable, so I attempted to undo the title change. However, the title has not changed back to the old name. My attempted undo is not shown in the page history, but when I try to repeat the undo I get an error in red The edit appears to have already been undone. What is happening? Is this kind of undo hidden until it is approved by someone? Verbcatcher (talk) 20:26, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Verbcatcher: A title change is called a move and cannot be reversed by the "undo" link. A new move has to be made. See Help:How to move a page. It's admittedly confusing that there even is an "undo" link on a move. Note however that it was moved because the editor wants another article at the old title. See Talk:SWALEC Stadium#Requested move 25 March 2015. Page views [1][2] indicate the other article is much more popular. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:45, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It is confusing. I'll follow the procedure for Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. Verbcatcher (talk) 20:52, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

How to resubmit an article?[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to know how I would go about resubmitting an article? I've fixed up what needed changing and I'm pretty sure it's all good to go now. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniella826 (talk • contribs) 22:37, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Daniella826: In [3] you removed a line saying "Do not remove this line!". I have restored the line which makes a box with a "Resubmit" button. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:05, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
