- Logo of a fictional corporation from the TV show How I Met Your Mother. Even within the show, this bank is of very minor importance. Showing the logo has insufficient contextual significance to meet WP:NFCC#8. —Angr (talk) 08:47, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- It is just an aid to enhance the article. Similar to the Logo of Skunk Works. The logo significant to the show list the show's sub websites etc. It deserves to stay.--Throttler (talk) 12:24, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- The difference is that Skunk Works exists in real life and Goliath National Bank doesn't. The logo doesn't help the reader understand the article about How I Met Your Mother at all. —Angr (talk) 05:37, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Whether the company is real or not is irrelevant. How I Met Your Mother often creates real websites for their viewers in the episodes ergo it gives the appearance that they are real to their viewers. Readers do relate to the logo as Global National Bank has an intricate part of the series. What qualifies you that this logo should be removed as it seems that you are only one that seems to have a problem with it. It is not in any discussions boards and it has been there for close to two months and has been edited over 100 times before "you" decided that this is not suitable --Throttler (talk) 23:48, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete per nom. Logo is clearly being used as decoration. There is no criticism or commentary on either the fictional bank or its logo - only a passing mention of the bank. -Seidenstud (talk) 05:48, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- The Skunk Works logo can also be considered as decoration however it is still allowed. To the regular views of How I Met Your Mother GNB has been a running gag. While it might appear as decoration to those whom are not understanding to the series should not easily criticise of the logo being deleted where it also enhances the article.--Throttler (talk) 07:47, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Please see WP:WAX which is great for people who don't understand fallacies. And please see my previous sentence for another example of what is essentially an ad hominem argument. Please see the previous comment for another one. -Seidenstud (talk) 18:13, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Image was tagged replaceable fair use, but an objection was raised so it may as well be discussed here. Case for replaceable seemed reasonable to me. Stifle's argument for replaceability was: "Replaceable by/redundant to the free textual description in the article. Also probable violation of WP:NFCC#2." That seems right to me too: fails to meet NFCC #1 and #2. Angus McLellan (Talk) 12:28, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - A case that the image is replaceable by text is not that clear cut. When it is used in an article to illustrate simply that "a man held a sign that said 'yada yada'", then yes, that qualifies as replaceable. However, the article frequently uses that image to illustrate (depending on which version of the article you access) additional content explaining that portions of the sign in the image were photoshopped; forged; obviously faked, etc.; content better conveyed and confirmed by the visual image rather than textual description. The image also does not appear to violate WP:NFCC#2, and isn't used in a manner that replaces the role of the original, as it is just one image from a set of several images that were used in a "forgery analysis" article, and is useless in that capacity as a stand-alone image in a Wikipedia article. Its market value only exists when it is presented as part of the set in conjunction with the other, high-res close-up comparison images used in the source. Xenophrenic (talk) 01:37, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't think text conveys anywhere near the context for the story surrounding the issue as usefully as the picture. BigK HeX (talk) 16:09, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - the text 'a photo was taken of TeaParty.org founder and president Dale Robertson with a sign that said "Congress = Slaveowner, Taxpayer = Niggar' adequately explains what happened without the need of a non-free image. PhilKnight (talk) 20:50, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - With PhilKnight's Logic, why would any picture at all be justified for inclusion into an article? One could say "A photo at tienneman square was taken of a man who stepped out in front of a tank and would not let them pass." Bottom line: Its newsworthy. Keep it. --NightDragon (talk) 19:55, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - A picture is worth a thousand words, a mere description does not serve as enough Jack1993jack (talk) 21:56, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep. The article directly discusses the sign right alongside it. It shows the sign in context, the manner in which it was written, the expression and stature of the man carrying it, etc. This is what fair use was created for. Dcoetzee 02:42, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep per NightDragon and Dcoetzee above.
- Keep The picture should be evaluated from a journalistic perspective and given the context I would say it is appropriate that the picture accompanies the text, allowing the matter to transcend beyond mere words into something that one would remember. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumitdey21 (talk • contribs) 10:05, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
