If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Ancient Mortgages in New York requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://alblawfirm.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Discharge-of-Ancient-Mortgages.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copyrights (again)[edit]

stop You must stop copying text from other websites into Wikipedia. Your record of contributions shows at least six different articles where your contributions have been problematic. Continued violation of Wikipedia's copyright guidelines and policies will result in loss of editing privileges. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:29, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Potential conflict of interest (alblawfirm.com)[edit]

I notice that all your edits involve adding links to alblawfirm.com, therefore I think the following message applies.

Information icon Hello, Real Estate Maven1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. [1] Deli nk (talk) 19:20, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ALB Articles[edit]

Hi - I've noticed that you have been adding a load of links to ALB Articles as references in various different articles - indeed, all of your edits seem to be doing that, and nothing else. I've started a thread on the reliable sources noticeboard (here), you might want to comment on that. Can you confirm why you think this site is a reliable source? It looks like a blog. Also, bearing in mind COI, it might be useful if you could confirm or deny whether you have any connection to that company? Thanks GirthSummit (blether) 14:25, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Girth Summit, ive left a comment on the noticeboard. Please let me know how I should proceed with edits Real Estate Maven1 (talk) 16:13, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - I've replied to you on the noticeboard, but I'll repeat myself here - if the articles have all been published in independent sources, then it would be better to refer to those sources rather than the company's website. Would you be willing to go through and replace the links?
By the way - just as an aside - there's no need to copy a user's signature if you want to ping them, just use their username followed by a pipe (|). I've edited mine above - if you put usernames as I've done there, and sign your post, the user will receive the notification. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 16:50, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Girth Summit, both for understanding and for the editing advice, I'm just an apprentice editor hoping to get better! Any other advice would be much appreciated. Real Estate Maven1 (talk) 17:11, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there - I just wanted to give you a heads up, I'm intending to go through and revert all the additions of that website as a reference. Your edits will be retained in the articles' histories, so you will easily be able to identify which article you added in order to help you find it published in a reliable source when you add them back in. Let me know if you need any help with that, cheers GirthSummit (blether) 10:12, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Girth Summit, im actually about to go in and change all the albarticles/alblawfirm additions to their original sources if you havent reverted all of the edits already. If you have no worries, please let me know how i can find the histories. Thank you! Real Estate Maven1 (talk) 14:59, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
At the top of the page, you'll see a 'View History' tab (it's up next to the 'edit' tab). You can see all the different versions of the page, and you can look at old versions, and compare the changes between different versions. Probably what you should do is go to the last version before my revert, go into edit mode, change the references to the right one, and then publish the page. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 15:17, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks a bunch Girth Summit, if i need any further editing advice should i just comment on your talk page? Real Estate Maven1 (talk) 15:20, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, just drop me a line there (or ping me from an article talk page or whatever), always happy to help. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 15:44, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
