Hey sorry for the late reply. Contrary to what some might believe, I do not spend all my time on Wikipedia. ;)

Now on re: your questions: a). Your best bet for how to add pictures would be to have a look first at this: Help:Images_and_other_uploaded_files which will then lead you to have a look at both uploading a pic: Wikipedia:Uploading_images and then playing around with it on the article can be achieved by looking at this: WP:PIC. It might seem a bit overwhelming at first, but be bold and you should get the hang of it. I would also like to add that if you are going to be adding species articles on Wikipedia (and trust me there are thousands of articles still needed!) also add a taxobox (See: Lion for example and notice the box on the right).

Re: b). Ah linking pages is very easy! All you have to do is add double closed brackets between the word. Example: Cat links to cat and looks like this: [[Cat]]. Wikipedia:Linking goes into more detail about this though so if you want more info be sure to check that out.

PS: Adding your own sketches would be fine (although I think an actual picture would be preferred) but you would have to place it in the public domain because Wikipedia does not accept things that are copyrighted (there are exceptions like "fair use" but that is another story). Hi There, i have created a page for education pedagogy, which is very prominent is Asia and is a new phenomenon in India Its called i math (intelligent Math) which helps removing math phobia among children but has been nominated for speedy deletion which was not right as it would have been of great help for indian parents.
