Sorry, I can't answer that question about the source of the information. My only interest in the article was to bring it into line with the biography standards by moving the place of birth from the introductory sentence to elsewhere. I confess I missed that there may have been a non-problematic version originally. I see that the problem tracks back to 2009, with the edit summary Big CHANGE. Added history article directly from IDSA site. Duh. Why didn't IDSA do this?. As Dennis noted on Kydpung's page, I can restore it to the pre-2009 version, although there's not much there, and it isn't sourced. While not a BLP, so no automatic requirement for sources, I doubt it would pass an AfD. It would be nice if someone wanted to start over and create at least a passable stub. No, I did not think you were claiming ownership of the comments. But the way you are formatting them doesn't make any sense. I see that you created a template, and are using it for the edits. I'm sorry, but I think the template is a bad idea, and it is badly implemented. In the guidelines I linked to, it says "fixing format errors that render material difficult to read" might be appropriate, but your template makes comments more difficult to read, in my view.

But the entire history of each page of Wikipedia IS documented. Your template is modifying other people's comments, which should not be done. I agree that Wikipedia is a fascinating place and process. :-) But your template does not help the way you want it to. Ah! I did not know Laudak was your account. The guidelines still discourage editing even your own comments on talk pages, but that is somewhat more acceptable than editing other's comments. It would be interesting to know why each page was created, but I think that you would have an uphill battle to convince editors to document their reasons. The "Cook" surname template has a link to Povarov which I deleted because this link is a redirect to some scientific article (Povarov reaction) and not to a surname page, or even to anybody with this surname. @Propositum:Please see the answer above..... ..... ..... Done? .... Now, to the point. It is not a nonsense, neither little nor big. It may happen that of 50 bearers, 3 have wikipedia bios. There may be other reasons. Like I said in your talk page, it is not a pissing context, it is not a research paper, it is a tool to aid navigation in wikipedia. Today we don't have this article, tomorrow it may appear.

That said, here is a propositio. If you are interested in anthropology, linguistics, we may set up some kind of framework of cooperation in surname topics. Two things come to my mind right away. We may put discuss and forth ground rules for inclusion of surnames in these templates. Second, we may clean up surname articles, to remove repetitions (and sometimes nonsense); say, one basic article per template (IMO the best candidate would be the English version of the surname), and other simply refer to it for generic etymology and lists of variants. Hello! I agree with You. Thanks for an interesting proposition of cooperation. My answer is following:

1. It would be difficult to establish rigid rules of inclusion of surnames in templates. However, it may be for example at least 1,000 bearers according to [7] or [8], or at least one biography on the Wikipedia. But in fact, we should be ready to adapt to various situations, which would probably require different proceeding.
2. I don't think that such clean-up is necessary. Etymology would be useful on each page. Notice that there are many variants of similar etymology (including roots, spelling, suffixes and alternative meanings). Moreover, we already have lists of variants in templates.
3. I have also one own proposition: It would be a good idea to focus on creating new templates for other popular European groups of surnames, e.g. those deriving from a given name. We have much work to do, however I think that it is not necessary to make at once very much of them, and they need not to be very detailed. Simply we should focus on the most popular surnames, and later maybe we would go further. We have the page List of the most common surnames in Europe and we should base primarily on it.
4. And yet one more thing: Maybe You would like to check the correctness of Template:Tinker-surname? It is not sure whether all those names mean the same.

If you disagree with their decision, you are free to start another thread proposing to readd them. However, can we agree that the vital article tag should be removed for now? Unfortunately, I don't think the project has a concrete definition of what makes an article vital. It's certainly been a stumbling block for certain proposals in the past, and there have been proposals to create such a definition. But for now, the description of at the top of Wikipedia:Vital articles ("Vital articles is a list of subjects for which Wikipedia should have corresponding high-quality articles.") seems to do an adequate job of describing what vital means.

As a none-year editor on wikipedia, I can assure you that your style of editing and your insistence on adding commercial links as "sources" are bringing the articles down. This is even more salient where you are adding entirely superfluously, as you did in Paul Păun (which already cited sources for those statements). Wikipedia is not a link repository. I did not violate Wikipedia rules as references removed where either media references (non scientific) or relation to abstracts for letters while they do not contain abstracts. The page originally asked for adding scientific contents and references. I provided a balanced view of the article and included every single scientific publications on the matter, either with or against.
