Nitesh Ranjan[edit]

Nitesh Ranjan is an India-based economist and presently works for a leading commercial bank. He has over twelve years of work experience, a major part of which has been in the role of economist in various commercial banks. A post-graduate in economics, Ranjan began his career with a Government Organisation, engaged in food security management of the country. He also holds a Diploma in Treasury, Investment & Risk Management, with distinction, from the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, Mumbai,India, of which Ranjan is also a Certified Associate (CAIIB). He was a Member of Economic Policy Group of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Nitesh Ranjan has published papers, including an "Occasional Paper", supported by the grant assistance of NABARD. Titled, "Role of Commodity Exchanges in price stabilization" (2004-05) this paper highlighted the positive impact of futures trading in commodities on their price stabilization in medium term. This paper has been referenced by several authors including by a high level Committee of the Government of India set up on Futures Trading.

Ranjan also did a research scholarship project for Indian Banks' Association (IBA) (2005-06) under their C H Bhabha Research Scholarship & Award Scheme. This was on "Equity & Commodity Business in Banks".


He has also presented at Indian Institute of Management(IIM), Ahmedabad (National Seminar on Management Science & Practices)and National Banking Conference & Research Seminar at Chennai.

Though not an avid blogger, Ranjan intends to use his blog, Random Thoughts, for sharing his thoughts on issues concerning the common man.

Nitesh Ranjan is married to Sfurti, who works as a Foreign Exchange Specialist in a commercial bank.
