Merge/redir proposed[edit]

 – The templates now have separate categories and their purposes have been clarified.

Template:WikiProject content advice is a useless variant of this template that should merge (well, just redirect) to this one. It is not used on pages that are about "content" but about article layout, which is style (see, for example, that Wikipedia's WP:LAYOUT guideline is a sub-page of the WP:MOS.) Both templates categorize identically, meaning that nothing on the system other than these two templates even recognizes the concepts as distinct. Which they aren't. — SMcCandlish   Talk⇒〈°⌊°〉 Contribs. 05:34, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Parameter |type removed[edit]

User:David Levy just removed the parameter |type= from this template. The first use of this template in Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:WikiProject_style_advice is Wikipedia:WikiProject Days of the year where it is invoked with {{WikiProject style advice |type=section …}}, which seems a sensible usage there. I suggest to restore the previous code, or raise a discussion somewhere which agrees to this change. If agreed, Template:WikiProject advice/doc obviously needs to be changed as well. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:58, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pinging me. I've restored the parameter and revised the wording to state that the [section, etc.] contains an essay (instead of claiming that it is one). I've also reworded a link's text to avoid referring to a "WikiProject advice page" (which doesn't necessarily apply). —David Levy 12:08, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
