I authored the Boardgamegeek.com article on the game as well as the Wikipedia article. The images were photos taken by me of the copy of the game that I personally own. The game was published in 1882, so the text of the rulebook as well as the art is in the public domain.

Yes, indeed, text published in the USA in 1882 is in the public domain and can be freely copied here with proper attribution. The only question is whether the text on the boardgamegeek.com site is taken exactly from the rule card, or was written by the author of that web page (which carries no copyright release so must be considered to be copyright). I suggest that the content should only be restored to the article in the former case (i.e., it is the exact text of the rule card), and with proper attribution of the source.
