Margaret TynesDraft:Margaret Tynes – There is no indication in the actual article about why this person is indeed notable. A brief search shows that there are many articles about her death, but does not indicate why she is notable. Jax 0677 (talk) 00:30, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • FWIW, Operawire.com says she was "a leading soprano in the world" and played "Bess in Porgy and Bess at the New York City Opera for six years" and "went to Russia with Ed Sullivan for the United States Department" [sic]. The New York Times wrote an obituary for her, and they don't do that for everybody (although I don't know what it says, since I haven't bothered to find a way through their paywall.) — BarrelProof (talk) 01:40, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This seems like a deletion discussion disguised as an RM. Is this the right venue? Notability questions are usually considered out of scope for RMs. — BarrelProof (talk) 07:53, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Seems to easily pass WP:GNG having multiple newspapers articles covering her. Theroadislong (talk) 07:23, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • If this was moved to draft it would be accepted immediately, WP:AFD is the correct next step. Theroadislong (talk) 08:03, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Jax 0677 the article now seems to be suitable for main space, having been extended from a single sentence, are you happy to withdraw the requested move? TSventon (talk) 12:05, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Withdraw nomination - I woild like to withdraw my move request. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:27, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Black American[edit]

The article does not yet explain Tynes' importance as a Black American artist. The NYT obituary explores this but mostly not in its own voice TSventon (talk) 12:24, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
