Luiz Gabriel do Nascimento Chalot de Oliveira (born 24 January 2001 in São Caetano do Sul) is a Brazilian boxer.[1] He is the grandson of Olympic medalist Servílio de Oliveira.[2]

Career[edit]

At the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he won a bronze medal in the Boys' flyweight.[3]

With the halt of international events due to the COVID pandemic, Oliveira was unable to score in the world rankings and his qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games was made impossible. When the competitions returned, the IBA, the world boxing organization that takes care of Olympic sports, decided, a few weeks before the continental pre-Olympics for which Oliveira was qualified, that the best ranked athletes would go to Tokyo. Outside of Tokyo, Luiz Oliveira began preparing for Paris 2024. [4]

At the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia, he won two fights, but in the round of 16, lost to Jahmal Harvey in the Featherweight category. [5]

At the 2022 Boxing Continental of the Americas in Guayaquil, he obtained the gold medal in the featherweight division, defeating world champion Jahmal Harvey. [6][4]

At the 2022 South American Games held in Asunción, Paraguay, he won a gold medal in the Featherweight (57 kg) category.[7]

At the 2023 IBA Men's World Boxing Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, he won his first fight, but in the round of 16, lost to Asror Vohidov in the Featherweight category. [8]

At the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile, he won a bronze medal in the 57 kg category. [9]
