"The flag of the City of Plattsburgh, New York, consists of three vertical stripes blue-white-blue with American eagle in the middle holding a red ribbon in the mouth, reads "PLATTSBURGH / NEW YORK" in white letters, and a slogan "A FREEDOM HERITAGE" in red letters below, across the stripes.
"It's design was by way of a local school child's (Ms. Penny Rivers) sketch submitted for the City's flag design contest in the U.S. bi-centennial year of 1976. The slogan, "A Freedom Heritage" was the chosen as the best entry in the slogan contest of the same year. The flag was hoisted over City Hall on July 3, 1976 and carried in the July 4th parade of the same year. Due to budgetary restraints over the years, additional flags have not been purchased. The singular flag purchased has been locked away for years.
Photo of the flag and information thanks to Keith A. Herkalo, City Clerk, City of Plattsburgh."
