Sandra Morera Boyer (born in Sabadell (Barcelona) on 18-09-1986) is a Spanish pop singer, songwriter and model known under her stage name Alexa Lace, previously known as Sandra Mars, Alexandra and Alexa Lase. She won a Hollywood Music Award[1] in 2018 and has been nominated for different awards in Los Angeles between 2020 and 2023.
Biography[edit]
She grew up in a musical family as the middle sister of three. Her mother worked as a music teacher and her grandmother was a zarzuela and opera singer. She started early to record demos that she sent to record companies
Modeling career[edit]
Although Alexa wanted to become a singer, she was struggling with stage-fright and felt uncomfortable in front of cameras. To fight that fear, she signed up with a modeling agency, Barcelona Tot Models, to get experience from working in front of cameras. She immediately started to get into commercials and soon she was shooting commercials for brands such as Fanta and Telefonica, and she also did modeling for different fashion brands, including Calvin Klein. She also tried acting and had minor roles in a few movies, including Face of Terror, directed by Bryan Goeres and Food of love, directed by Ventura Pons.
She also got into Television, first as a news presenter for a regional TV channel in Sabadell and in 2002 she was a hostess with Pedro Ruiz in his late-night show Noche Abierta[2] con Pedro Ruiz.
Early artistic Career[edit]
2003
After having recorded demos since the age of 13 she got signed to Vale Music where she recorded and released the song Ven conmigo (a la fiesta) that was included in the #1 album Caribe 2003.
2004
She released the song “Amor sincere” that was featured in the album Caribe 2004.
2015
She signed with the Spanish record label Blanco y Negro and released four songs on that label.
2016
Alexa presents her song Ashes in the Spanish National Selection for Eurovision Song Contest
2017
She was discovered by, and signed to, the Swedish/American management company Broadway Management (later Zircon Entertainment).
2018
She started to work with songwriters and producers in Los Angeles and in September she released the song “Dime con tus manos”, written and produced by Aleena Gibson and Trevor Muzzy and recorded in the AfterHour Studios in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, owned by 19-times Grammy Winner Rafa Sardina. The song entered the Mediabase Top-40, peaking on a #34. The song was nominated for a Hollywood Music Award in the category Best Latin Pop/Urban/Rock and on November 14 she stood as the winner of the Award.
In 2018 Alexa went on a four months promotion tour spanning over Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, El Salvador and Guatemala. She headlined major festivals including Central Americas biggest festival, the Golden Fest in El Salvador as well as Club Mediafest in Bogotá, Colombia. During the tour she participated in more than 250 radio- and TV-shows and made interviews in numerous newspapers and blogs.
In December 2018 she headlined the TV program Teletón in El Salvador together with Nacho and Manuel Turizo.
2019
She worked for three months on her stage performance together with her choreographer Shaun Walker, who works as a dancer and choreographer for artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Mariah Carey. In September 2019 she performed together with her twelve dancers at the Coca Cola Music Experience[3] in Madrid.
2020
Alexa moved permanently to Stockholm to work on her music together with some Swedish songwriters and producers. She released two songs written and produced by Märta Grauers, known for having produced the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart #1 song, Release me, with Swedish singer Agnes Carlsson. The first song released was Fuel to my fire, written by Märta Grauers, Kamilla Bayrak and Malin Johansson and produced by Märta Grauers. The song was nominated to a Hollywood Music Award in the category Best Pop.
2021 Alexa released the song The Touch, written and produced by Märta Grauers. The video for the song was directed and produced by Pablo Fernandez, Laithaus Films and recorded at Haga Slott (Haga Castle) in Enköping, Sweden.
2022
She released the song Tenía que ser Yo, written by Molly Sandén, David Larsson, Maria Smith and Victor Thell of the duo Smith & Tell, with lyrics in Spanish by Dani Blau and Alexa Lace. The song was recorded and produced in Los Angeles by Emile Ghantous and five times Grammy Winner Rob Chiarelli. The song got a nomination for a Hollywood Independent Music Award in the category Best Latin Pop/Rock.
Alexa wrote the Christmas song Santa's Bringing You in 2022. The song got a nomination for a 2023 HIM Award in the category Best Holiday Music.
