1865 Mississippi gubernatorial election
The 1865 Mississippi gubernatorial election was held on October 2, 1865, to elect the governor of Mississippi . Benjamin Humphreys won against Ephraim S. Fisher and William S. Patton . The election was officially nonpartisan to replace the outgoing Provisional Governor William Sharkey , though Humphreys was a Democrat and Fisher and Patton were both formerly Whigs .[1]
