Direct2Drive

Why was this deleted? It is clearly notable. Also Direct2Drive.com and Direct2drive.--Vaypertrail (talk) 10:49, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Direct2Drive was deleted under CSD G11 as "Unambiguous advertising or promotion". Direct2drive was deleted as it redirected to non-existent pages. Direct2Drive.com was deleted as being non-notable, but reading the text it also qualified as G11.
Given the promotional nature of the text in those articles, if you think you can write an article on them your best bet would be to start from scratch. However, if you want any of them userfied as a starting point, let us know.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 18:11, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ProcessMax

Please undelete this page. It is a very useful product reference for many government and private organizations that utilize this management tool. It seems it was deleted because someone claimed it was advertising. There seem to be product pages all over wikipedia so I don't find this adequate justification given the reference utility that this page has provided me and my organization. Please reinstate this page and allow them to update and expand it. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by SchuylerDavid (talk • contribs)

WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS is not a very good argument; ditto for WP:ITSUSEFUL. Tim Song (talk) 17:03, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This page is a useful reference. That is the purpose of encyclopedias, to be useful references of knowledge. Tim Song did not fully understand my argument. Please reconsider undeleting this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SchuylerDavid (talk • contribs) 21:24, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've just had a look at the deleted version of the article. It lacked any reliable third party sources and was deleted as advertising. I think it would be a better idea for you to create a draft version as a user subpage and try to overcome these problems before re-posting it as an article. Need an admin to outwiki deleted pages

(Previously requested @ Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2009_October_23.)

I would like to move the deleted pages listed in Wikipedia:WikiProject Constructed languages/Edit wars and deletions#Old AfDs, DRVs, etc to FrathWiki. Ops on the destination machine can be had.

But as a lowly user on WP, I don't have access to the pages in order to move them over.

Could I get some help?

Thanks! Sai Emrys ¿? 07:44, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I will help you. How to do want to do this? --ThaddeusB (talk) 20:34, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to Thaddeus for offering to help. It seems to me that the tidiest way of doing the transfer would be:
1. Somebody (Sai Emrys?) gives the Frath admin bit to ThaddeusB.
2. The Enwiki admin restores the deleted file
3. Admin uses Special:Export to create an XML file (might need to play around with some parameters)
4. Over at FrathWiki, he invokes Special:Import to create the article using the XML file created in step 3. This restores the edit history and makes attribution clear for any copyright questions.
5. Enwiki admin re-deletes the original file.
I haven't done this myself but I'm guessing based on the specs. For best results, ask for assistance at WP:VPT. EdJohnston (talk) 23:14, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the two admin roles are separable, with the en admin emailing the exported XML file(s) to the Frath admin. meta:Help:Export and meta:Help:Import are the relevant help pages. Flatscan (talk) 03:43, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think seperability would be good. If you can email me an XML of the deleted (& semi-deleted, e.g. currently redirected) pages, I'll get it to the FrathWiki siteops for import. Thanks! Sai Emrys ¿? 09:07, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You'll have to either enable email or send me an email using Special:EmailUser/ThaddeusB as I'm not a mind reader. ;) --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:49, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sent. Sorry, I thought admins could see email settings. I've also arranged w/ Muke Tever (the FrathWiki siteop) for him to do the import. :-P 20:25, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Smitha Rajan

Hi,

As the page, Smitha Rajan, was deleted once, I have edited the page and have tried to upload it more time. I hope this will solve the problem. I want to state here that Smitha Rajan is a well known person in the field of Indian Classical Dances from India. To create her page I took the help from her official website (http://smitharajan.tripod.com/) for accuracy. Hope now this page is ok to be published on the site.

Feast of Saint Raphael, Ollur

Feast of Saint Raphael, Ollur is the one of the main festivals of Thrissur Christians. The Ollur church is one of the most powerful parishes in Kerala because of its huge Christian population. The festival attracts thousands of people across the Kerala state. The festival is widely followed by Kerala-based newspapers like Malayala Manorma, Mathurubhmi. Etc. It has not widely followed by Internet users. The festival generates lakhs of ruppes to the economy of Ollur. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jpullokaran (talk • contribs) 15:15, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this page falls under the same categories of other wiki's which are currently part of the wikipedia family. This page is written in a neutral voice as would befit an encyclopedia. Further I have reviewed other wiki's such as "Best Buy" [1] to be certain the voice is neutral.

Here are similar wiki pages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_Community_College_Trustees http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Association_of_Community_Colleges

This a Sadri, Kurukh, Kharia and Mundari language word means kingfish lives in deep ponds, lakes and river. Attila The Hun

A few days ago I added a few lines to this articles which I had learnt from the book titled The Leadership Secrets of Attial The Hun by author Wess Roberts an which was published by Warner Books and later a condensed version of the same book was published by Fortune.

Specifically I had stated that the Leadership Views put forth by him are relevant even today. I had also stated based on the information in this book that he i.e Attila was ststed to have had 300 wives and 6 sons who had started feuding for parts of empire even when he was alive.

As regards his birth I had given the information that he was born somewhere in Danube Valley in present day Hungary.

All the above information was later treated as vandalism which definitely it was not.

As such I may please be exonerated and the added information be put back.

This is my request to the Arbitrators.

Kind regards,

KCKN Pioneers with Modern Country music Format in 1957

I am new and confused...so I hope I am connecting with you correctly: On 30 October 2009, I wrote four or five paragraphs to add to a story I am building: "KCKN (defunct)". It was deleted. I do not know why. This is why I am writing this note.

The new paragraphs were a section entitled, "KCKN Pioneers with Modern Country Music in 1957" which were to be the next section (or chapter, if you will) in the story, "KCKN (Defunct". I would like to retrieve this material and have it reconsidered to be added on to the still-incomplete story about an historic Kansas City radio station.

Please review and advise.

Quiet Internet Pager

The article has been deleted by Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Quiet_Internet_Pager, where at least one voice was clearly racial hate. Just a few people claims it's not notable, but holds over 50% of IM market in CIS [2]. It's just not known outside of the market. There might be no any more public polls on IMs, but Alexa rank makes it enough clear. Its official site is 25th in Russia. And just over 500th in the world [3]. Far ahead of Trillian [4], Miranda IM [5] or Pidgin [6] for example. And that is taking in account that Alexa is very US centralized, international sites, especially from very independent Internet segments, like runet are very underestimated. CIS is all up to ICQ, MSN is not present on CIS market at all, Same as like Yandex vs Google, or IE vs Opera (browser). CIS Internet market is very0 different from other world, just like Chinese. So far I have added only a link to Russian wikipedia, so people wouldn't loss when clicking Quiet Internet Pager from other en Wikipedia articles. Ok, I've restored all the deleted revisions to User:Elk Salmon/Quiet Internet Pager. Looks quite ok. Updated it slightly and added few references. Should I just move it to its place or should it be done by admin? Elk Salmon (talk) 00:07, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The community decided that it should have been deleted at the AfD, so unless the administrator who closed the discussion, NuclearWarfare (talk · contribs) thinks it overcomes the reasons for deletion, there will need to be a community discussion to look at the new version. I can initiate this for you if you like?  Skomorokh, barbarian  00:18, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, if you can. Notability is clearly very high. Elk Salmon (talk) 00:20, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Manufacturing Dissent

Additional information continues to get deleted, I wonder if it is politically motivated.

I've been attempting to post additional information to your page about Manufacturing Dissent. I'm not at all well versed in Wikipedia but it appears that the remover was granted rolllback rights and deleted additional information that I posted. Can you please explain why this is happening? And how is this fair? If in the response section after a sentence reading "Moore had previously remained quiet on the matter," I'm attempting to insert a source that verifies that, why is that removed? I hope it's not because the editor disagrees with the content, that isn't fair. I'm sorry I don't know Wikipedia well enough (its complicated to web neophytes as you may know) to pose this question directly to the party involved. The best place to ask your question is either at the article's talk page (Talk:Manufacturing Dissent) or at the talk page of the user(s) who reverted your edits. If you can't resolve things there through calm discussion, there's always Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. (But try talking it out first, because if you go straight to dispute resolution, you'll be told to talk it out.) HTH! --Fabrictramp | talk to me 15:43, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I let them know on their talk page, when I reverted their changes, why I did so, and how to avoid it being seen as spam. They finally read it apparently, as their recent edits have placed links in appropriately. Cheers. FELYZA TALK CONTRIBS 21:32, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A Round-Heeled Woman : the play

I have revised the article to better suit it for an enclyclopedia item, as requested. It was marked for possible deletion as being an "advertisement masquerading as an article". I have removed or re-written all elements which could be considered promotional, as opposed to factual. Apologies - I'm a newbie here. Hope this revision helps retain the article.

  • I have removed the [proposed deletion tag, which any editor (including yourself) may do. Please note that the article may still be deleted through a more structured process known as "articles for deletion" where editors will discuss whether or not it meets our inclusion criteria and an administrator will determine if there is consensus to delete it. If you have reviews or commentary on the play in reliable, independent sources this will likely reduce the possibility that the article will face deletion. Protonk (talk) 05:15, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. I couldn't find out HOW to remove the tag, I tried, so thanks for your help. The play is currently in pre-production so - other than the official website - there aren't yet any external sources to quote - but I will defintely add the reviews (good and bad) once it opens, mid January. Would it help to add reviews of the BOOK, in the meantime as that's the closest external links there are at present? Thanks for any advice you may be able to offer here to avoid deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacquelinedanson (talk • contribs) 05:28, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • If the play is currently in pre-production and slated for a release in 2010, then it may not be appropriate to have a wikipedia article on it yet. Information and sources on the book should be used on the article we have for the book (if we have one). Protonk (talk) 05:35, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I don't think you do have a page for the book, so perhaps one idea might be to combine them here to give a complete view of all versions. It would certainly be possible to include extensive external independent reviews and articles for the book, as it was published a few years ago, and I could include as part of its contemporary history information that there's a stage adaptation in the works. The speedy deletion of this page is contested. Reason: This page gives valuable information to readers about online weight loss scams, backed by valuable resources. It also teaches them how to find practical solutions.

  •  Not done It was speedily deleted as unambiguous promotion. As such I can't unilaterally restore it. If you would like I can email you the contents of the article or move it to your userspace. Also, if the company has been the subject of detailed coverage in independent, reliable sources then we can use those to build a neutral article. Telsis

This was a work in progress deleted by Secret because the article did not show the subject was significant.

Telsis is a UK based developer and manufacturer of telecommunications hardware whose products are used by many mobile and fixed network operators in Europe and Australasia - but none in the US which may be why Secret judged the company to be of no consequence. My intended next steps were to add references to European journals discussing Telsis, and to cite EU patents held by Telsis for inventions in use today with multiple telcos.

I would much appreciate your guidance on how I can make this page acceptable for restoration.

With thanks.

Sagepart Sagepart (talk) 17:09, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Sagepart, and sorry that we deleted your article. You're right in that Secret deleted because it did not show why the topic was significant; the guideline articles have to meet here is Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), which you might like to read. Guidance on improving articles and bringing them in line with the encyclopaedia's standards can be found at Wikipedia:Starting an article and (the more advanced page) Wikipedia:Writing better articles. The basic advice I'd give about writing about companies is 1) don't be promotional and 2) link to coverage in reliable sources.
Your plan of adding references to journals discussing Telsis is a good one – citing coverage in mainstream newspapers, academic papers, scholarly books, and industry press is the key way to establish significance and notability. As such, I have undeleted the article and put it at User:Sagepart/Telsis for you; you can work on it there to your heart's content without fear of deletion. Once you're happy with it, just go to Secret's talkpage and ask them to look it over. If you need any further help, feel free to ask at the help desk. Wer-kennt-wen

I was looking for information about the popular German social networking site, and was surprised to see that it had been deleted.

The deletion was listed as: "10:37, 15 December 2008 Lectonar (talk | contribs) deleted "Wer-kennt-wen" ‎ (A7 (web): No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion)"

According to this article: "Wer-kennt-wen.de, one of Germany’s largest social networks, has been acquired by The RTL Group, one of Europe’s largest media conglomerates."

It says that "WKW currently has 5.5 million members," and that it "has been likened to a “German MySpace”."

Alexa gives it a traffic rank of 301 (world-wide), and 18 within Germany. [7]

I'm not really an expert on Wikipedia's standards for inclusion, but I would think this should easily surpass many other websites included here... Helvetica (talk) 04:51, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peter LaBarbera

This page was nominated and delted in less than one day, in fact significantly less than one day. It had previously been arbitrated and found to be at least somewhat acceptable. The speedy deletion process used was clearly not the right proceedure. The article should be restored, and those who value it should have to chance to edit to address the style issues brought up by the deleter.Johnpacklambert (talk) 15:28, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not done I'd have to agree that G11 wasn't applicable here, but this looks a bit more contentious than I'm comfortable with unilaterally restoring. (No problem with any other admin who's willing to do so, though.)
I see two courses of action available here. We can userfy it for you (or send to the article incubator) to give you a chance to work on it. Or you can take it to WP:DRV and make an argument that G11 was inappropriate. Either way, I'd suggest getting Fastily (talk · contribs), the deleting admin, in on the conversation. Since Fastily was not even the person who showed the politeness of posting notice of the deletion on my talk page, I have even better reason to believe that working with him is not the most productive avenue.Johnpacklambert (talk) 17:11, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If as you admit the G11 did not apply than the whole process of deleting the article was totally illegitimate. This article had been hased out, and yet this person just comes in and heavy handidly deletes it. Maybe I should not get so defensive, but such actions do not lend themselves to a likelyhood of undeleting. Anyway, in the past when I have dealt with even more heavy handed, no warning at all deletions, not even a post to tell me the deletion had occured afterward, all I ever got from the deleting administrator was justification for deleting the articles which showed ignorance of the notability criteria in question. I see no reason not to restore if it is agreed G11 action was not appropriate.Johnpacklambert (talk) 17:05, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There was a long debate on this article from the 21st of September through the 4th of October of this year. People were both for deleting or not deleting, but no one argued the case of G11 issues. The article should be restored. If people think it violates policies, they should at least send it through arbitration.Johnpacklambert (talk) 17:15, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The fact of the matter is that at least for most of its existence the page on Peter LaBarbera was the anti-thesis of promotional. See also links led to h"hat speech" implying that that was what he did. There is a seperate attack page designation, and that would have been closer to the truth. To call this a promotional page is an abuse of the term.Johnpacklambert (talk) 17:22, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you're right. Deleting Peter LaBarbera per G11 might not have been completley appropriate - I don't see it as blatant spam albeit mildly advertisment-like. If you like, I can provide you with a copy of the deleted text so you can work on it in your userspace or in the Article Incubator. -FASTILY (TALK) 17:47, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Eimantas Paltarackas

Hello,

I do apologize but today I did noticed that one of my articles has been deleted by user called Renata3. The reason of deletion stated "No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion: total advertising". I never meant to make it look as an advertisement, never had such intentions. I provided a short story of his life, biography.

For many years it has been published on Wiki and suddenly now it's been deleted for such an unlikely reason. I can clearly confirm that the person that I wrote this article about is a talented public radio personality. He is currently working into broadcasting industry in United Kingdom, as well working on projects with the British Broadcasting Corp. too. If necessary, I can prove it.

Please, is there anything that can be done to undelete this article?
Accept my apologie once again and thank you so much for taking your time on this matter. Regards, Sean.

  • No apologies necessary, but unfortunately we can't unilaterally restore this article. It was deleted as a speedy deletion, which allows administrators to remove articles which give no indication of meeting our inclusion criteria. In this case, the deleting administrator had two concerns, the inclusion guidelines and our guidelines on advertisement. In order to meet our inclusion criteria, a subject must be covered in signficant detail by multiple reliable sources. If you can find those, you may ask the deleting administrator to restore it or ask that another admin restore it at deletion review. I hope that helps. Recently there was an up and coming actress Cindy Sampson deleted from wikipedia, For those of her fans that follow her work to state that she is an unnotable B-Movie Actress is a defamation of her character. She is a growing well known actress to her growing fan base.

Please put her page back up and allow the world to view her.

concern was: Unnotable B-movie actress. No significant coverage in reliable, third party sources. Most films she's listed as appearing in are not even notable enough for inclusion themselves. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.192.48.34 (talk) 01:58, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Done. Restored as a contested PROD. Please note that this article may still be nominated for deletion, which is a more binding form of deletion. The best way to guard against that is to provide reliable sources which cover the subject in significant detail. Also, it is not defamation of character to argue that a person may not meet our inclusion criteria, which are neutral and relatively well enumerated. I have restored this page only because contested prods may be restored automatically, not because the world can "view her". Specifically, wikipedia is not a directory of actors and actresses. This article was deleted because "nonnotable band, doesn't look like they were ever signed to a label".

I have no idea why my page was deleted. It is truly ridiculous. I am a published author of three different books, all with the listed ISBN numbers. One book was a bestseller, Beautiful Bad Girl, and stills sells today. The Guys Who Spied for China is a brand new release, also with the listed ISBN number. The Constant Travellers was published by Putnams and also has its ISBN number. It was also optioned for a film at two major studios. Twentieth Century Fox and MGM. As for Beautiful Bad Girl, the Vicki Morgan Story, the book is now being optioned for film rights. It is an ongoing story that has lasting power both in the news and is studied by true crime aficionados and others. Why this would be deleted is beyond me. Much of the posting has been on your site for years now, and I find it strange that someone would now choose to delete it without asking or checking first.

It's not that VitaMan will never have an article on Wikipedia; the problem was that your article was written like an advertisement, not like an unbiased encyclopedia article. This is exactly why people with a conflict of interest are strongly discouraged from writing about topics where they have that conflict -- it's difficult for them to see the bias in their writing because they care so deeply about the subject. Article was uncontroversially deleted on 29 March 2007 by Bobet with the reason "Non-notable buisness [sic] owner and unsuccessful politician")

This implies that some given level of notability was insufficient, and was unchallenged. One Media Player per Teacher

I want to re-post the article I made, One Media Player per Teacher (OMPT). It was deleted because of spam or conflict with another topic. I'm having problems with the credibility of the references I suppose. However this is a newly formed nonprofit organization, so the resources are limited.

I work for OMPT and was assigned to post the Wikipedia article for the organization, so all of the information is credible and taken directly from the OMPT website (www.ompt.org). I work directly under the Executive Director, so there shouldn't be any problems, right?

I mistakenly named the article "One Media Player per Child" the first time I posted it, and sent an email requesting it get deleted because of the title error. Maybe that has something to do with the article being deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oborrows (talk • contribs) 19:03, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If references showing notability aren't out there because the organization is new, it may be a bit soon for a Wikipedia article on them.
Also read WP:COI. Because you work for the organization, there are problems with you (or anyone connected with the organization) editing the article because it will be difficult for you to write in an unbiased manner. As such (and as stated under G4) "the reason for the deletion no longer applies."

He had previously served as the former's chief of staff. Paul Welday's name already appears several times on Wikipedia, and when the link is clicked on, a page suggesting creating a page arises. Please note his appearance and prominence in United States House of Representatives elections, 2010 under Michigan's Ninth District.

Part 3 under notable enough to be in an encyclopedia states: "although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of 'significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article.'" Welday has received significant coverage by the County's primary newspaper (The Oakland Press), as well as Metro Detroit's WWJ Newsradio 950 AM, and the Detroit News/Free Press. This coverage by "secondary sources" clearly qualifies his spot on Wikipedia.

The reason given was that Paul Welday does not meet Wikipedia notability standards. For the reasons above, it seems, however, that he does. It should be noted that the individual who deleted this page, Orangemike is ideologically opposed and also dissented of prominent Republican Party members on his personal page. He indicated that felt George W. Bush should be "prosecuted".

If the issue is that I need to add more information to build credibility, I have no problem doing so, but please let me know either way.

Thanks for your time. Soccer4926 (talk) 23:37, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want the article restored, in this case it's best if you talk to the deleting administrator, Orangemike (talk · contribs). If you'd like the page userfied so you can improve it, let us know, but I'd still suggest talking to Orangemike first to get a clear handle on the issues. Padamadan

I would like to have the wiki article on padamadan undeleted. I hope to add more information to verify the information within it and to expand the history of the family. I'm not sure why the reference page was deleted. I came online to add updates and found it was deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Padamadan (talk • contribs) 19:40, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aramram

Hello, I'm new to this. Don't understand why the page Aramram was deleted. This is an actual website and the description I placed of it is accurate. It has been covered by the local media (Arabic language) as well as local Jordanian bloggers and websites. While the site doesn't have international importance, the fact that it is the 1st Arabic-language Jordanian WebTV geared towards a Jordanian audience makes it have at least some local significance. This is attested by the fact that in the 5 months since its launch it is one of the top 200 sites visited in Jordan..... thanx — Preceding unsigned comment added by E.hamam (talk • contribs)

Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries

The Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries article was deleted because it help too much resemblance to Goodwill Industries. However, I would like to make it clear that all Goodwills act as their own companies, without relating to one another. They only have the same name. I would appreciate it if the Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries (the Goodwills located in Massachusetts) could be undeleted. Perhaps a list of Goodwill operations on the Goodwill Industries page would be useful, with links to all of them, including Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries. I will continue working on the Morgan Memorial Goodwill page to improve it with links and resources and other articles. Thank you! --Saraeday (talk) 22:34, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

bash.org

Please userfy Bash.org (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and its talk page to my userspace. I especially need the older revision history of the version that was deleted on 6 November 2007. Merging the history of the later versions is ok, but the older version is the version of interest.
