You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Herman Menzel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.chicagomodern.org/artists/herman_menzel/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:59, 8 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of Orientalist artists

Thank-you for your recent edits to the List of Orientalist artists. Please note that the comments at the top of the article state that interlanguage wikilinks have been added when no article for the artist exists in the English language Wikipedia. This is consistent with Wikipedia guidelines Help:Interlanguage links. This article is already controversial as there are certain members of the Wikipedia Visual arts project who seek to deny that Orientalist painting constitutes a movement or a genre, and are seeking any plausible reason to cull names from the list, or possibly to delete the article altogether. I have tried to take a very conservative approach in building this listing, and have not strayed too far away from policy/ current practice, in order to avoid alienating these editors. I would like to suggest that further interlanguage links are not added when a good quality article exists in the English Wikipedia? BronHiggs (talk) 21:28, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

my first article

Dear Mister, My name is Enio Barbaro and I found your details through a webpage on which you contributed on my mother in law Ms. Martine Piccart.

Actually I have drafted an article in sandbox on my grandmother whom is a belgian paintres but on whom no refrence is made in Wikipedia, many people urged me to do so as they found it regretable that no reference can be found on her on Wkipedia.

I am almost ready with the article, but the publishing part seems so ambigious. I would like someone's eye on it, or is it obligatory to go through a screening board?

I was wondering if you could give me a hand in how to proceed for publishing my article.

I would like to thank you in advance for your time. Best regards, Enio Barbaro eniobarbaro@gmail.com 0032(0)486816470

I also made the website from my grandmother last year www.colomaswaam.com, this is just the start of it, she must have made approximatly 600 paintings, I started the research on them recently, the wensite will be completed with a large number of paintings in the near future Enio Barbaro (talk) 20:34, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sheriff of Kincardine

Hi Plucas58,

I was wondering if you could advise whether there was a seperate sheriffdom for the Mearns in pre 16th century times, as I am getting two holders of the position if you have Mearns and Kincardine as a single sheriffdom. Regards Newm30 (talk) 05:02, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The earliest occurence of Kincardineshire I can see was in 1607 when represented by the Laird of Allerdes. I can see no separate entries for Mearns which I think is just an alternative name for the same area.Plucas58 (talk) 12:48, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dabs

Hi, Plucas58,

I notice that you still receive a load of messages from my old mate DPL Bot, which means you haven't been physically checking the pages you link to. In order to avoid these messages, consider setting (at top right hand corner of this page) Preferences - Gadgets - Appearance - to "Display links to disambiguation pages in orange". This will instantly alert you to the fact that there is more than one instance on WP of what you previously thought to be unique in your experience.

On a happier note, I just tidied up Willoughbyland. It gives me a huge sense of satisfaction that every single entry in the template of CJs of the Empire is now blue (mostly thanks to you and your obvious dedication to the cause), although articles like No. 1340 Flight RAF (mea culpa) barely begin to point out the vast injustice which the British meted out to unsuspecting inhabitants of various far-flung corners of the globe.

I just glanced at the list of articles you created. I don't do barnstars, but here's a pic of a barn near where I used to live.

Great Coxwell Barn

MinorProphet (talk) 07:19, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip about highlighting disambiguation pages. I have ticked as appropriate. Amazingly about a dozen articles in my user page list immediately turned orange. Fascinating that you lived in a Grade I barn-a common expression when I was a kid and left a door open was "Were you brought up in a barn?". Plucas58 (talk) 13:14, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I said "near" where I used to live... about 10 miles away. I frequently got asked the same question: "Born in a barn, were you?" So I always shut the door now, but often the horse seems to have bolted. Best wishes, MinorProphet (talk) 04:14, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Asahi beer Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. What a beautiful painting, thank you for creating the page. You've done wonderful work in the realm of visual arts. I changed the category from 'Maritime paintings' to 'Water in art' because mp means a ship is a prominent part of the painting, and in this one Monet used his unworldly talent to capture the feel of a turbulent ocean (can almost feel the mist). If we ever meet remind me I owe you many beers or anything stronger. Randy Kryn (talk) 22:12, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the kind words and generous offer but the truth is that I didn't create this page - it was actually created by DilletanteAnonymous. I stumbled across it by accident and added it to your navigation template. I don't understand why contributors write articles and don't take the obvious steps to make sure people find them. You wouldn't put them in charge of the marketing department, that's for sure. I have myself nearly finished doing a catalog list for Frederic Bazille as part of a "project" to document the Impressionists output. I usually work on something until something totally different takes my eye but it hasn't happened recently so I have hung around. What does surprise me though is the relatively low interest in art articles on wiki - all the more reason for a joined up approach - like your navigation templates. Plucas58 (talk) 01:55, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's the art world's gain that you haven't found another topic area to improve. Hi, forgot that I was going to get around to answering you, so have come back after adding a painter to the list of paintings template and saw your name. No, the Monet template wasn't my creation but the work of User:Tyrenius, who hasn't been on Wikipedia since late 2016. I love DilletantiAnonymous's work here, and too wish they would add it to templates but they don't. There must be thousands of pages loose in their page history which haven't been templated, every so often I run across one of the pages and have to literally click on every item on a template and then go to the category page and see what's left. I've added hundreds of his articles by doing this. Sometimes it takes awhile but, the silver lining, by doing it I get around a bit and have a little more knowledge of what the Wikipedia collection holds. Thanks for your Bazille, will have to check it out. I know, it surprises me still that there aren't hundreds of art students, professors, art collectors, artists, etc., adding to and improving Wikipedia's art pages. I feel privileged to be able to do edits, connecting-templates, and additions to categories of literally the most read English-speaking world's personal art appreciation collection. And am around to thank people like you and the other regular crew who still add to and work on these pages. DilletantiAnonymous is one of the best. I've left quite a few notes on his talk page but have read there that he doesn't look at their talk page, so I'm going to add a ping here to see if it stirs. Thanks again.
