Looking for your help :D
Hi Piotr, hope you still remember me. We met at the Pittsburgh Wicnic not too long ago. I'm one of Professor Kraut's research assistant currently conducting research on Wikipedia. I remember that we didn't get a chance to talk about the research last time, but if you're up for it, I'd like to talk to you a little about the experiment we're hoping to conduct and solicit some of your opinions and suggestions. Since we're all still rather new to Wikipedia, we could use some advice from an experienced Wikipedian like you! If you're willing to talk, send me an email at jipingh@andrew.cmu.edu so we can further this discussion off-site. Thanks! Jipinghe (talk) 20:21, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- Actually just corresponding over email is fine, but if you're too busy these days I can understand! Good luck on the thesis! Jipinghe (talk) 12:12, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Piotrus -- You've encouraged me and thank you. I ask your help briefly. The Polish article on economist Bert Hoselitz is good but its photo was of a different person, John Nash (whom Hoselitz influenced) so I removed the reference to this photo and requested deletion of the photo from Commons. Please take a glance at my recent edits at the Polish article and my comments. Got it right I think but if it could be handled better please comment or make edits.
And, p.s., if you are going to the Haifa conference please let me know; your WikiSym 2010 t-shirt did arrive in Gdansk and I could finally give it to you. It will have traveled the world but no one has worn it yet. -- Econterms (talk) 00:08, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- No worries! I'm in Washington DC. Next Wikimania is here, if nothing before. I've got business in your area but haven't followed through to make it there. -- Econterms (talk) 03:33, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Some Thoughts
Piotr, I didn't know where else to take this so I decided to bring it to your attention, as you're the only seemingly unbiased wiki admin I can find. RE: Deletion of Lawyers in Hell and the subsequent merging of other novels: I am of the opinion that the only solution is well written pages with links to all the named writers and synopses of the books and stories as well as commentaries and reviews. However, it seems that the Lawyers in Hell was unfairly targeted for speedy deletion while others with similar pages across wiki have stayed up for upwards of five years. Other than the discussion for AfD, which seemed to reach no consensus (and then all of the pages were merged when I was on vacation), is there a way where a mutual consensus could be reached without contributors and admins grabbing for their nearest hammers to beat each other with? Hej. Pozdrawiam serdecznie. Gytha (talk) 19:54, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
