DYK for The Last Ringbearer

Materialscientist (talk) 16:02, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Piotrus. Nicely done with this. The article has been on watchlist for a while, and I was wondering when someone get around to fixing it up. Just wondering, have you read it?--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 05:36, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow. Nah, I only learned of it a couple months ago. One day I'll get around to it though.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 06:13, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy you perceived my article. Currenty I'm covering the Austro-Hungarian War of 1477-1488. I've created the Siege of Vienna (1485) yesterday and the Battle of Leitzersdorf the day before. So I'm quite busy to nominate them (and also I'm constantly unsatisfied with them) but I will be very pleased if others do so and feel like it worths a front page as it did happen with the Peace Treaty of Wiener Neustadt. Feel free to overrule my small ego. Cheers. Lajbi Holla @ meCP 19:11, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE drive invitation

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors

The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting.

This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.

We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words".

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Józef Tusk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Who.was.phone (talk) 18:23, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Józef Tusk

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Józef Tusk, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:25, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Józef Tusk. This is your last warning; the next time you remove a speedy deletion notice from a page you have created yourself, as you did at Józef Tusk, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:30, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

I know I said I stopped caring whether Mme. Hanska passed FAC or not, but apparently I was wrong. This fills me with frustration and despair, and I'm really mad at you right now. If I were you, I would have either:

  • Actually stepped up and voted to Oppose; or
  • Confined my relatively minor gripes to the article's talk page and not blocked FAC because of a small organizational disagreement.

Memorial article

Regarding my lack of a DYK nomination for Janusz Kusociński Memorial – from hook creation, to nomination and article reviewing, the new DYK rules mean that a nomination typically takes me around 40 minutes. This is a significant portion of the time I spend working here. In response to this, I now only nominate particularly interesting pieces (Ondoro Osoro for example). However, some editors have been kind enough to nominate other articles I have created. I'll keep you in mind next time I create a Polish-based article! Cheers. SFB 17:56, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, do you think he's really independently notable? Seems to me that he only got in the news because of his grandson. I'm willing to be persuaded but I'm not seeing it at the moment.Volunteer Marek (talk) 04:10, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
