Pollan earned an Academy Award nomination for her return to acting when she portrayed the love interest in ''Basses'', starring Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, and Moira Kelly. Pollan portrayed Greere Davidson, a young woman who worked in the World Trade Center around the time of the September 11th attacks. She was also a bass player. She met Charlie Sheen's charecter Aidan Wyatt at a concert and they soon fell in love. Greere though passed away in the attacks, devastating Aidan. Pollan earned a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her portrayal.

Tracy Jo Pollan (born June 22, 1960) is an American actress. She is perhaps best-known for her recurring role as Ellen Reed on the sitcom Family Ties in the mid-1980s. It was on this show that she met her future husband, actor Michael J. Fox.

Pollan was born in Long Island, the daughter of Corky, a magazine editor, and Stephen M. Pollan, a financial consultant and writer.[1] She has two sisters and a brother, author Michael Pollan.
