Jonesy's chaotic love life was a constant turmoil for the character throughout the series. Early during the series he had an emotional and ambiguous relationship with his Sergeant Tess Gallagher. Tess, overwhelmed by her colleague's affection sought safety in a marriage with rogue doctor Josh Carmicheal and later left the series. Senior Constable Susie Raynor's relationship with Jonesy provided more promise and even culminated in a marriage proposal. But due to her presumptous, fleeting affairs with Senior Constable Ben Stewart, Senior Constable Alex Kirby and drug addict Jason Tyler; Susie eventually lost the respect of Jonesy although the pair remained close friends until the final episode.
