David Williams was born in October 3, 1965.[1] He is a native of Minnesota.[2] He would win the state championships in Judo at the age of 17 and went on to San Jose State. [2] While there he would earn a degree in International Business. [2] Later he would earn a Masters in International Communications.[2] He was a national and international competitor in Judo.[3] His last known rank is Sandan.[4] His last event was winning the US National Championships in Judo in 1996.[3] He would make an attempt to make the Olympic Team for the United States, but became the alternate to Jimmy Pedro when he finished second in the 71kg division. [5] He would have a 33 year competitive career.[2] He would serve as a Phy. Ed. Professor at San Jose State University.[6] During instruction of one of his classes, a student broke his arm. [7] In 2013, he would become an IJF-B referee.[8]
