County Route 236 (CR 236) in Onondaga County, New York (referred to as CR 236 by the Onondaga County Department of Transportation) is a loop road in the town of Marcellus. The route begins at an intersection with the New Seneca Turnpike (former New York State Route 175 or NY 175, now CR 41), loops around the area, nearing Camillus in the process. Route 236's northern terminus at an intersection with New York State Route 321 in the town of Elbridge. The highway goes under the names of Gypsy Road, Limeledge Road, Shepard Road, Northwest Townline Road and Stump Road.

Route description
CR 236 begins at a junction with CR 41 (New Seneca Turnpike) in the town of Marcellus, not far from the village line. CR 236 proceeds northward through Marcellus as Gypsy Road, passing west of several residences and cemeteries before intersecting with CR 133 (Old Seneca Turnpike). CR 236 is discontinuous after being split by CR 133, before continuing northward on Limeledge Road. CR 236 continues northward from CR 133 as a two-lane residential street, nearing the hamlet of Marcellus Falls, where it intersects with segments of CR 236 (Glover Road and Stump Road). CR 236 bends westward near Marcellus Airport, passing a large quarry along this stretch. At the junction with another segment of CR 236 (Shepard Road), CR 236 bends to the northwest, entering the town of Elbridge, where it junctions with NY 321. This junction serves as the northern terminus.

History
Each of Route 236's names comes with a different meaning from the town of Marcellus. The first road, Gypsy Road, is named after the English gypsies that once lived in the area. The Limeledge Road alignment is named after the abundancy of limestone in the area. Northwest Townline Road is named after the northwest townline of Marcellus, which runs along the Skaneateles border.

CR 236 is not signed and the fact that only one county route in Onondaga County is signed, the routes are not usually marked on maps, so an exact date for the route's inception is unknown. There is an exception to this, however. The New York State Department of Transportation revealed in a 1989 and 1990 Digital Roster Quadrangle for the towns of Marcellus and Camillus that CR 236 ran along the said alignment. The maps also showed the others in the area as their respective designations. However, the quadrangles do not mark the three suffixed routes. Instead, they are all marked as parts of CR 236.

In December 2003, the Onondaga County Department of Transportation proposed reconstructing Limeledge Road (CR 236A) and nearby Flat Rock Road (CR 236B). The plans included widening Limeledege and Flat Rock for trucks heading to NY 321 (along with a nearby quarry in Marcellus) and removing a bend on Limeledge. On December 17, a resident of Limeledge Road made headlines in the Syracuse area when she opposed the idea on the basis that Limeledge would become a "speedway". The following week, the outcry grew and the Onondaga County Department of Transportation was asked to reconsider. The county's plan was to rebuild Limeledge Road from scratch, and they had told residents in March about it. The original resident making an outcry dropped any conduct accusations after being told it would not affect the neighborhood.
