Chris Doughty (born October 12, 1962) is an American businessman and politician. Doughty co-founded Capstan Industries,[1] a multinational metallurgy company based in Southern California. He has overseen operations at the Capstan Atlantic[2] plant located in Wrentham, Massachusetts since 1992.
2022 Massachusetts Gubernatorial Campaign
Doughty announced he was running for Governor of Massachusetts on January 26, 2022[3] as a moderate Republican candidate to challenge prominent Massachusetts Republican and Trump-endorsed Geoff Diehl[4] for the party's nomination in the Commonwealth. Doughty believes that life in Massachusetts is becoming increasingly expensive and has focused his campaign on creating jobs in Massachusetts "Going hand in hand with affordability is making sure that our economy fully rebounds and continues to grow. He and wife Leslie have 6 children and four grandchildren and reside in Wrentham, Massachusetts. Doughty grew up in Southern California where he attended Miraleste High School in Rancho Palos Verdes. His father was a Christian preacher and eventual convert to the LDS Church. Doughty attended Brigham Young University where he graduated in 1987 with a degree in economics[6] then continued his education at the Harvard Business School where he received an MBA in 1989.[6]
