BITS Goa Campus

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani Goa Campus or BITS Pilani, Goa Campus is an all-India Institute for higher education located in Mormugao Taluka of Goa state, India. The institute offers graduate courses in engineering and science with an accompanying humanities department. It is a campus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science.

BITS Pilani, Goa Campus was formally inaugurated[1] on May 5,2006 by the Indian Prime Minster, Dr.Manmohan Singh.

  • Located on the banks of Zuari river, about 6 km from the airport.
  • Spread over 188 acres of land owned by the Zuari industries.
  • Air conditioned auditorium with seating capacity of 2200.(the largest one for any educational institution in india)
  • Air-conditioned classrooms and lecture halls.
  • Central library
  • Student activity center(includes 3 badmition courts, 2 large table tennis rooms, a football field,a cricket ground,2 volleyball courts and 2 cemented tennis courts).
  • Hostels: 12 (10 for boys, 2 for girls).

Academics

The Goa campus runs Group P, Group S and Group T, which correspond to Group A, Group B and Group C at Pilani Campus. The dual degree scheme & the transfer scheme also applies to this campus. A wide variety of scholarships are offered to students(includes Merit scholarships Merit cum need scholarships etc).

Initiatives

  • BITS 360° - A virtual campus tour launched.[1]
  • BITS Goa hosts the 8th Workshop on Biosensors and Bioanalytical µ-Techniques in Environmental and Clinical Analysis from October 3 - 6, 2007.[2][2]

Annual festivals

Quark

The annual Technical Festival of the Goa Campus is called Quark.This event is sponsored by industrial partners and several innovations in technology are showcased in 3 days. There are various events including paper presentations, invited lectures, Workshops. The event promises to go bigger as the college gets established completely. Waves

Waves is the annual cultural festival for the Goa Campus.

Zephyr

This is the annual inter hostel cultural festival organised by the student association. It invokes a strong inter-hostel competence with its 12 groups of participants (representing the 12 hostels). A 3-4 day event, during the month of October, Zephyr is looked up on as an event fostering cultural talent and management.
