Big Brother 2011 is the twelfth series of the British reality television series of Big Brother and the first regular series to be broadcast on Channel 5. It launched on the night of Friday 9 September 2011 with an hour and a half long special launch show, the day after the final of Celebrity Big Brother 2011 was broadcast.^[1] The new series is due to last for 64 days and there were 14 original housemates, all 18-30, 7 men and 7 women.^[2] Viewers had glimpsed possible housemates auditioning to enter the house during trailers on Celebrity Big Brother 2011 and Big Brother's Bit on the Side on 5*. On 8 September, the evening before launch night, presenter Brian Dowling confirmed a "surprise guest" launch night twist. The twist was that Canadian-born model and Baywatch star Pamela Anderson went into the house on launch night to host a party and set a number of tasks during her four day stay.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page). This series is the first to use online voting via Facebook credits. The show has struggled in the ratings compared with the relative success of the celebrity version of the series that preceded it on Channel 5. The new series has featured a higher content of frank male nudity than seen previously and several instances of lewd talk and salacious behaviour have been included in the evening highlights programmes.^[3] However, the previous series did contain many similar occurences, but these were much less frequently seen than in the Channel 5 version.

After Richard Desmond bought Channel 5, he said he was keen to acquire Big Brother. Meanwhile, Endemol had been granted permission to keep the Big Brother house at the Elstree Studios where it currently is until 30 September 2013.^[4] On 2 April 2011, the Daily Star, a newspaper owned by Desmond, reported that Big Brother was returning on Channel 5 in August 2011 with a Celebrity edition.^[5] On 6 April 2011, Channel 5 formally confirmed it had signed a £200 million 2-year contract with Endemol to screen Big Brother UK from 18 August 2011.

On 3 May 2011,^[6] Endemol and Channel 5 officially opened the process for people to apply to be on the show. Open auditions for the Channel 5 series were held at Old Trafford in Manchester on 10 and 11 June 2011. Auditions were also held in London on 18 and 19 June 2011 at the Emirates Stadium. All applicants had to attend the open auditions with identification to be considered for the series and had to be a legal resident of the UK or Ireland aged 18 or over by 31 July 2011 to audition for the show.^[7] Big Brother 11 winner Josie Gibson took part in filming at the London auditions meeting potential housemates.^[8]

From 23 July 2011, trailers announcing the imminent return of the celebrity version of the series were aired using Marcus Bentley's voice. Former housemates that featured in one of the trailers included Josie Gibson, Brian Dowling and Alex Reid. This coincided with the launch of the new eye logo for 2011. In the run-up to Celebrity Big Brother, the channel featured a promotional campaign under the slogan "When Bruv takes over" based on the David Guetta and Kelly Rowland song "When Love Takes Over". It featured a large cast of past housemates dancing and miming in the streets, finally meeting up in a park with CGI effects adding a fly-past with coloured smoke overhead. Break-bumpers announcing the series arrived in the week running up to the launch along with a countdown to the launch day voiced by Bentley. Idents based on the Big Brother eye Brian Dowling popping out the iris of a Big Brother Eye have also appeared as the Celebrity version's return looms. Channel 5 also took out commercials on other channels, including ITV1 promoting the launch of the new series. The launch was also trailed heavily in the printed media, including an advertising blitz in the Desmond-owned newspapers and magazines and posters in town centres. In the second week of the celebrity version, trailers heralded the return of the main series on 9 September 2011.

The main elements of the house design were inherited from that used for previous celebrity series. Viewers first previewed the new Big Brother house during Celebrity Big Brother 2011 in preparation for the intake of regular housemates on the night of 9 September 2011. Differences include the walls being changed from a fish theme to a forest theme, the bedroom being made over with fresh textiles and gold mirrored furniture for the regular housemates. In the bathroom, the installation of transparent double shower cabinet with a frosted central band offers minimal privacy. There is a clear view of the shower's unclothed occupant from the house and garden but the frosting obscures the user's private parts from a clear view. There is a large central free-standing "egg-shaped" bath and with small pink and blue hand towels. The bathroom is mainly blue and pink with a sofa and clear view of the goings on from the living room and garden. Some of the house space was converted to create a luxury apartment for houseguest Pamela Anderson during her stay in the house. After she left, the "Pammy Annexe" was opened for a sleepover by the golden housemates. The wall of faces in the living room were also changed, with the new housemates' faces added to adorning it on day 3. These turn blue to indicate the nominated housemates and red to indicate an evicted housemate.

The garden retains the oblong pool with wave facility used for Celebrity Big Brother with a bridge going across it. For the main series, an artificial beach area was installed ready for the arrival of Pamela Anderson. This has featured in several outdoor tasks. There are areas of astroturf and decking, palm trees and an outdoor shower. Three leather sofas stand in an outdoor lounge area next to the "beach". This area which was first used to host Pamela Anderson's VIP party on launch night. There are doors leading to the sauna cabin, toilet and main house. There is also an area of rattan seating with cushions and throws. This area has patio lanterns and an artificial fire hearth which light up at night, decorated with logs and flames. The exterior walls and the house are decorated with simulated stonework.

The housemates are to be watched by a network 47 cameras 24/7, the largest number of cameras to date. The show is to be broadcast in high-definition for the first time in its history. In preparation for HDTV broadcast standard, the house has been illuminated with a super-bright overhead lighting rig.^{[citation needed]}

On 15 August 2011, viewers were rewarded with their first glimpse of the Big Brother 2011 diary chair. It is in the style of a luxury club chair in deep red with gold trim.^[9] The new Diary room has already featured in Celebrity Big Brother 2011 with a small task room adjacent.

Channel 5 has confirmed that 24 hour live free-to-air feed of life in the house will not feature. This has alienated some traditional fans of the show as they have difficulty keeping up with events in the house since the shift from Channel 4 to Channel 5. The channel is concentrating on the daily highlights shows, the spin-off and eviction shows and is placing preview clips from action in the house on the dedicated website and social media. Regular tweets on current events in the house are being placed on the official Twitter site with other clips on Facebook. Some highlights clips have also been posted on the official YouTube page. Daily updates drawn from the media will be placed on this site as they are available to draw together these sources. For the first time in the UK series, the show is accepting online voting for the public votes via Facebook Credits alongside phone voting.^[10] A diary of daily events in the house is also being posted on the Channel 5 website to accompany the clips.

For most of the Channel 5 series to date, vote to save has been offered to the public over vote to evict. For the new series, evicted housemates record a farewell message for their ex-housemates which is played to them after they leave the house. This feature was first seen when Pamela Anderson left the house after her stay as a houseguest. In Week 1, Heaven, Maisy and Rebeckah won immunity from eviction with a golden swimsuit. In Week 1, Aaron, Harry and Tashie were nominated and faced the vote to save, Tashie was evicted. In Week 2, Harry won immunity by completing a task. On Day 11, Heaven and Rebeckah were nominated for eviction. On Day 15, Rebeckah lost the public vote to save and was evicted from the house.

There are 14 housemates, all 18-30 years of age with an even split between males and females. Viewers were given a teaser of their profiles on Big Brother's Bit on the Side on 7 September.^[11][12]

Pamela Anderson joined the housemates as a guest on launch night, as confirmed on the final night of Celebrity Big Brother 2011 claiming that she would "leave a skidmark on every housemate". This promise, however, proved to be false as Pamela was polite and conducted herself with decorum throughout her stay. She remained in the house for the duration of the first weekend setting three tasks. On day 1, she hosted a VIP party for five hand-selected housemates. In this task, one housemate had the most impress Pamela to win a "Golden Swimsuit" secretly granting them immunity from eviction. On day 2, she announced that she would be interviewing housemates during a speed-dating task in the sauna in which the most impressive date would earn a golden swimsuit.^[13] Aden won this task. On day 3, Pamela set the house a Slow Motion lifeguard task which was won by Maisy. On day 4, Aden lost his golden status to Rebeckah after Pamela chose her as winner of a task. Pamela left the house on day 4 and the golden housemates were given access to the Pammy Annexe. During her time in the house, Pamela wore several striking party dresses by the British designer Vivienne Westwood.

This is the main spin-off show for Big Brother UK which made its debut during Celebrity Big Brother 2011. The host is Emma Willis. Other reporters include Alice Levine and Jamie East. It mixes the styles of the previous spin-offs Little Brother and Big Mouth. Viewers have already encountered the show's "mascot", a canine security guard who ejaculates in excitement when the younger female guests' names are mentioned. The show features extra clips of the previous day's action plus previews of the current day's events in the house. On Sundays, the show features a quiz on the week's events in the house.

This is a special edition of the main OK! TV magazine show broadcast from the Big Brother compound at Elstree Studios. The hosts are Jeff Brazier and Jenny Frost. The first edition aired on Wednesday 17 August where viewers were given a preview of the new Big Brother house on the eve of the launch of Celebrity Big Brother 2011. It mixes celebrity and showbiz news and interviews with news and events from the Big Brother house and interviews with ex-housemates.

Day 1 Launch night. Entrances: 14 housemates moved into the house greeted by houseguest Pamela Anderson on her "beach". They mingled at the boozy icebreaker. Task: Pamela selected Heaven, Tom, Tashie, Louise and Faye at attend her "VIP" beachside party: Heaven was "most entertaining VIP" and won a golden swimsuit (immunity from eviction). Jay said he has a tattoo on his penis. After Aaron told Rebeckah that he could not urinate without running the tap, she said she had played watersports with her ex-boyfriend. The housemates entered the refurbed bedroom, Mark and Harry shared a bed. Anton and Aden eyed the women and flirted. Aden and Jay shared street slang. Rebeckah said she works in a men's club and did voluntary work. Heaven told Aaron about saving the world. Tom, Jay and Mark chilled in the pool and Tom asked them if they "had a wank" before arriving. Jay said he'd masturbated "about 70, 000 times" in a week, making his semen thick. As they cleared the kitchen, Harry and Aaron quizzed Pamela about Baywatch. Aaron said there were "a couple of bitches" in the house.

Day 3 The harsh alarm sounded. The housemates' portraits arrived. Mark and Heaven danced, Louise and Harry felt apart. Jay and Mark did dips and press-ups and cooled down in the shower. The camera viewed their butts and Mark's penis as they lathered, danced and sang. Jay reached down, his broad butt came into full view.^[21] Maisy, Alex discussed boobs and hormones. A steel band played while the housemates partied and did some limbo dancing. Tom and Alex brewed up a "Fauxmance". Tom and Mark did a psychic experiment with tinfoil.^[26] Anton and Aden founded "The Wolfpack" and recruited Rebeckah. Aden and Rebeckah cuddled after he massaged her feet.^[27]

Day 4 Jay flirted with Louise. Tom debated whom he fancied. Mark did a silly dance to join Wolfpack, the others set the rival "The Ducklings". The Wolfpack got nicknames and rules, Aaron said he already left it. Aaron said he disliked Tashie but liked Maisy. Task: Pamela's "Dress to Impress" to win a golden swimsuit. Judges: Heaven, Aden and Maisy, Winner: Rebeckah. Twist: Rebeckah chose Aden to give up his golden trunks to her (lost his immunity).^[28] Pamela arrived for her leaving party in a designer dress, later she left the house. The golden housemates slept in her bedroom. Aden and Rebeckah cooled. Mark did a comical dance routine.

On Day 5, Heaven lost her voice. Jay had a breakfast of pineapple. Mark showered in front of Louise and Harry, flashing his penis at them. He danced to make his penis wiggle when Louise said it was "going like a helicopter" and left. Mark compared his penis size with Harry. As Mark showered, the cameras focused on his genitals. Tashie told Heaven that the Moon was crying and had tears. Rebeckah and Mark shared a bed which annoyed Aden.

Day 6 Tashie felt rejected. Heaven meditated. Mark and Jay showered. Mark said he'd owned a gay tortoise. Tashie gave the females a belly dancing lesson watched by Jay and Anton. Jay and Aaron fancied Louise. Task: "Boys" versus "Girls" "Battle of the Brains" shopping task in school uniforms with pink ties and geeky spectacles.^[32] Part 1: sums on a blackboard, find totals on fish in barrels of fish paste. Winners: Boys, graduated with gowns and super-sizebrains "brains" on their heads. The girls became the "pea brains" and wore green plastic caps. The boys were given "brain food" of sushi and the girls had tinned sardines. Rebeckah bitched about Anton and Aaron. She told Aden there was no "love triangle" with Mark. Task: Part 2, "brainy boys" answer two general knowledge questions with £50 per correct answer. If a wrong answer, a girl to be gunged with "brain sick". Winners: The boys, reward: control shopping budget of £400. The boys threw "brain sick" around the garden and body surfed in their boxers. Punishment: £50 docked from their shopping budget. Mark performed a silly jungle dance in his boxers and landed in Jay's lap.^[33] The housemates cleaned-up after the task. Tom and Mark shared a bath. Faye, Louise and Mark boozed. Rebeckah teased Aden. Jay said he liked Faye but fancied Louise. Mark and Tom stripped and jumped in the pool along with Faye and Louise who were in their bras. Anton flashed his butt. Heaven was accused of stashing chocolate biscuits. Mark and Aaron discussed the housemates' motives, Aaron warned Mark about Rebeckah. Alex did task challenging her to walk 2 miles in an hour. She won a pampering hamper. Heaven and Rebeckah rowed over domestic tasks. Rebeckah told Heaven she didn't fit in. Heaven threatened to walk but Rebeckah and Faye talked her round. At the rattan seating area, Rebeckah and Aaron bickered,. She told him she hated men and he was arrogant, he told her he had a Nintendo Wii. They made up, but Aaron muttered he still didn't like her. Mark picked had a playfight with Alex. Tom tried to break it up. After drinks, Tom kissed Aaron and fondled his penis in a game of "gay chicken". Bisexual Tom said, "I fondled willy!" The game spilled over to the bedroom with Rebeckah teasing Aden.^[38][39] Alex won the females a basket of luxury cosmetics. The housemates played musical chairs. Day 8 was first eviction day. Overnight, Aaron and Tom had shared a bed and cuddled, Tom said he wanted to share again. Aaron kissed Tom "because he missed his son". Jay discussed fake tans with Rebeckah and Aden. Aaron talked about his son. The males shared grooming tips. The others debated Aaron's sexual orientation. Tom jumped on Mark in bed. The moans about the messy state of the house continued. The house prepared for a "wedding" between Tom and Alex. Jay and Mark dressed up as bridesmaids. Jay put on a yellow polka dot dress and wig. Maisy and Louise helped Mark to walk like a girl in a black wig, basque dress and platform wedges. Mark showed his testicles. Aaron looked on tensely, filing his nails. Tashie objected because Mark was "in love with Tom". Aden acted as Tom's best man, Harry gave Alex away. Heaven conducted the marriage ceremony and caught the bouquet. Aaron was upset at being away from his son and cried alone in the bedroom. Big Brother comforted him with a photograph of his son. The housemates awaited the eviction night result. Faye flirted with Aaron but he said he was shy. Heaven gave Tashie some "healing energy" to help her stay, it failed. Aaron received the most votes to save; Harry second. Tashie had fewest votes and was evicted. The housemates heard her farewell message. Aaron was upset at Tashie's allegations about his "curiosity about men". Aaron said he'd celebrate surviving with a shandy and a jig, Harry said he'd have a bath. The housemates drank a toast Tashie. Faye moved in on Aaron saying she found him attractive. Aaron and Tom had a heart-to-heart. Louise made baby noises. The housemates partied and wrecked the bedroom. Big Brother warned of serious consequences unless they stopped.

Day 9 was the first day of the second week in the house following Tashie's eviction. Mark, Aaron and Harry shared a bed overnight and had a lie-in. Big Brother punished the housemates for dumping Aaron's mattress in the pool and damaging fittings and the cameras during their eviction night party by taking away the hot water and hair dryers and banning alcohol.^[41] Aaron said he didn't mind cold water and took a shower but shivered. His butt was again in view for the cameras, this time in close-up. Aden's large penis, testicles and small, muscular rounded butt were on view for the cameras for the first time as he showered under a freezing torrent.^[42] Faye drew Aaron further into her web. In the garden, the housemates participated in a "Clucking Hell" chickens and eggs task in which they dressed up as hens and lay eggs in a coop in which they had to eat chicken food at hourly intervals brought in by a "farmer".^[43] After they dropped out, Tom stroked Aaron's hair and gave him a massage. Aaron told Mark and Tom how much he wanted a date with Louise. Mark said he also wanted to date her. While Anton snored on the sofa, Louise and Faye played a practical joke by writing on him and putting shaving foam in his hand, this became a group foam fight drawing in Alex. After midnight, Heaven and Harry were the chicken task finalists after Maisy dropped out, they talked about hunting and bitched about Rebeckah's scheming ways. At 12.17am, the housemates said Heaven was cheating by regurgitating the popcorn. Heaven was last to chicken out; Harry won after 8.5 hours winning immunity from eviction.^[44] Aaron wore a silly trapper's hat. Aaron and Faye lay on the bed and had a heart-to-heart. Aaron flirted with Louise again.

Day 10 was Sunday and the housemates had a lie-in until the harsh alarm sounded. Aaron made everyone breakfast. Faye had a cold shower but avoided the cameras. The housemates were hungry over a reduced shopping budget. Anton made his first appearance naked in the shower on the highlights show with his genitals and butt exposed to the cameras behind the screen. Aaron admitted a habit of watching Maisy while she was showering. Aden, Tom, Mark and "MC Jay" formed a house progressive rock band called "The Pink Shade of Monkey Willy" and put on make-up. Jay carped to Big Brother about the lack of food. Faye had a secret task, to "Diss and Kiss" all 7 lads and choose one for a hot date in the luxury bedroom.^[46] She had to insult each man and have them kiss her to win a dinner date with roast chicken with all the trimmings. Faye dissed Aden about his lack of personal hygiene, winning an affectionate kiss from him. She chose Aaron for her date. Mark and Tom offered him styling and dating tips with a new shirt. On the date, Faye made suggestive comments about the food and told Aaron she thought he fancied Rebeckah or Louise. Aaron then confessed to Faye that she was the one whom he really liked. Aaron invited a shy Faye to a slow dance to Whitney Houston. After the date, Aaron reported back to the men. Faye found a keen post-date ear in Rebeckah. Faye, said Aaron wasn't her type and she still hankered for Jay. Mark, Aaron and Tom took a bath together. The men discussed house romances. Heaven told Maisy that her divination with rune stones foretold that Rebeckah would cause trouble. Rebeckah gave Jay relationship advice concerning his love for Louise and told him not to fall for Faye as second-best. Aaron's tangled lovelife continued when he told Mark that he regretted coming on too strongly with Faye on the date. An argument brewed between Heaven and Rebeckah. Heaven had told Aden that Rebeckah was leading him on. Faye's turmoil over Jay continued in the early hours during a bedtime chat with Rebeckah. Harry and Mark shared the bed again. Heaven kicked Rebeckah off her bed for having "bad vibrations and a negative force". The row between Heaven and Rebeckah erupted into a slanging match.^[47] Rebeckah accused Heaven of being a bully and spreading gossip. Tom stuck up for Heaven, Rebeckah sulked.

Day 11 Nominations day. Heaven had a cold shower. Mark and Aaron did an experiment in telepathy. The men looked back fondly at Pamela's time in the house. The housemates were fed up of the lack of food, having only half a shopping budget. Heaven reconciled her differences with Rebeckah with a heart-to-heart. Heaven wanted to know who informed on her over "chocolate biscuitgate". Jay told them to kiss and make up and said he didn't grass up Heaven. Tom and Aden were drawn in.^[48] Nominations began in the wake of the feud between Rebeckah and Heaven. Jay gave Mark a haircut. Jay used pillows and clingfilm to make a punchbag in the garden and talked fitness with Mark. Jay became frustrated when Big Brother ordered him to take the punchbag down. Harry, Faye, Louise and Mark played with a beach ball in the garden and gave each other piggy-back rides. Faye probed Aaron about his sexuality; he told her he is sure he is straight. She felt he had feeling for Tom, he said he'd worried about Tom's flirting with him. He told Faye that he liked pastel blue. Aaron confided to Tom that he found three of the housemates attractive. Heaven said she hated clothes lying around in the living room. Aaron relaxed with a cosmetic face mask. Harry, Anton and Alex had a pillow fight. At 23:40, Heaven and Rebeckah were nominated for eviction. Rebeckah found solace in Aden who comforted her after her shock.

Day 12 Cold showers again. Alex talked about her pet dog. Rebeckah had a cold shower in underwear with a fully clothed Aden helping her to dry off. Big Brother set the housmates a "Say Yes!" positive thinking shopping series of tasks. They had to say "yes" to everything Big Brother told them to do, if they said no, they would fail. There were Yes and No signs with a safe in the seating area. The Yes sign flashed when they accepted a task and a bell rang; if they refused, the No sign lit up and a buzzer sounded. Mark was first, he had to wear a tiny pair of nude tanga briefs with a figleaf over his genitals and get "naked" around the house. He complained they were cutting into his backside.^[49] Next, Alex had to go into a tanning booth four times to get spray-tanned by a beautician. She passed her part of the shopping challenge.^[50][51] The housemates were offered hot water again but Anton, Heaven and Harry lost it for them again after talking nominations. Rebeckah was upset about the nominations talk, Aden and Anton comforted her. They were given "Yes" cupcakes to eat. Maisy faced the next Yes! task in a tight red shiny body shock suit fitted with an electric shock device wired to pads on her backside. Every time Big Brother told Anton to dance, it gave Maisy an electric shock. The tables were later turned and Anton was told to put on a skintight orange shock suit and got shocked on his butt when Maisy was instructed. Rebeckah had to choose a housemate to lose all their possessions. She said Yes! and chose Mark who had to hand in his suitcases and possessions and was left in just his tiny underpants. He was tricked into thinking he was being evicted. Aaron discussed dinosaurs with Harry. Heaven formed a healing circle and invited the housemates to open up. She told Aaron he was "like an onion, with many layers". The bonding session broke down after it rained and Anton ran outside. Aaron and Louise were set a "One Night Stand" task in the garden. They had to stand back-to-back in their coats in the smoking area in the garden until Big Brother said to stop. Tom, Harry, Mark and Aden sat watching their progress into the early hours.^[53] Alex moaned about the fake tan. Aaron moaned about Anton during the task, saying he didn't like his attitude. Aden kissed Rebeckah. Harry and Alex had a pillow fight.

Day 13 Saw the housemates awoken abruptly. Mark still had only a pair of tiny underpants to wear. Faye had a short, sharp shock with a cold shower. Mark said he suffered from arachnophobia. Anton kept his orange jump suit on. Heaven recruited for a "booty popping" dance class for the women. Faye said no to having a tattoo saying "Yes" on her arm and failed the shopping task. (She allowed the tattooist to prepare her upper arm and went as far as having a stamped design applied but backed out.)^[54] Tom was called to the diary room where he was greeted by a barber and gown. Big Brother asked him if he wanted a haircut. Tom allowed himself to have a trim but refused a short back and sides to complete the task and thus failed. When he emerged, Aaron looked disappointed at Tom's new look. Tom said the 'do made him look 4 years old. Aaron asked Tom for snuggles at bedtime. Jay and Mark worked out in the gym. The men larked about in the bathroom. Aden's Yes! task was to avoid touching Rebeckah or talking to her. Heaven led a "booty popping" class in the bedroom with the women and Aaron with Mark in his pants. Heaven accepted a challenge to bungee jump for the Yes! task and mounted the platform on the crane that had been set up in the garden. She succeeded and passed her part of the task and received a group hug from the housemates on her landing.^[55] The housemates passed 10 out of their 13 Say Yes! tasks. They were given a chance to see the nominations, they said No! They were given a code to a safe containing the maximum number of fails allowed to pass the overall task. The answer was 5, they had passed and won a luxury shopping shopping budget. Jay moaned about Heaven wasting the budget on herbs. Rebeckah quizzed Heaven about her love life. The housemates were rewarded with cans of beer. Mark and Tom were upset about Jay taking extra cans of the party beer. Aaron got very upset about it and went to the diary room. Mark tried to resolve the row. Tom, Heaven and Rebeckah pole-danced on the stairs. The row simmered down and the housemates danced to music. Aden was jealous when Aaron gave Rebeckah a foot rub. In the rattan seating area, Aden discussed girls with Anton. Ade did a rap about his love life, girls and life in the house. Maisy and Aden clashed over his behaviour towards her in the garden when he and Jay saw she had a blemish. She was upset when he hugged her. They later bonded and Aden told her she was "stunning" and hugged her. Aden cried and made his peace with Maisy. Rebeckah said Maisy fancied him. Tom and Faye had a falling out over her touching his things and he called her a "dickhead". Heaven tried to appease Rebeckah after the bedroom fights. However, it backfired and tensions brewed between the pair after Rebeckah annoyed Heaven with Aden looking on. There was bad energy again between Heaven and Rebeckah. Heaven annoyed Rebeckah when she walked away from the bed and flicked her finger, saying "wow!".^[56] After a day of rows, Aden said "Love you" to Rebeckah which annoyed Anton.

Day 14 dawned in the wake of a night of drinking and tensions in the house. Aaron and Jay talked over the previous night's events. The housemates washed, preened and groomed themselves after the days of punishment were over. The men looked forward to a luxury food budget. In the smoking area, Jay was fed up with "babysitting" the younger housemates. Harry and Anton decided to have a "bed in" and stay in bed all day. Jay boasted to Anton and Aden about cuddling up to Maisy in bed. Anton claimed he was the best looking male in the house. Aaron spied Maisy in her bra and pants doing her spraytan and offered to help her apply it to her back. He also applied fake tan to himself.^[57] Mark, Aaron and Alex did the Macarena dance. Mark sat naked in the bath and discussed his penis size with Faye and Louise. Aaron, Mark and Jay debated the beer budget. Alex and Louise had a conversation about their boobs and body image. The women said Aaron was like a dad. Mark has his bath. Harry, Aaron, Heaven and Jay planned the shopping list. The women wanted chocolate. In the garden, Maisy and Rebeckah bitched about Heaven and said she was false. Maisy was chased by a wasp. Jay had a vigorous workout in the garden with his top off. He did some hard-core crunches on the bridge.^[58] Mark chased Aden with his pants down. The shopping arrived and the housemates divided up the spoils. Jay told Heaven that Rebeckah was false. Tom fell out with Aaron and the pair tried to heal their rift. The housemates revealed their new slogan, "willy, willy, willy!" Heaven gatecrashed Aaron, Alex, Anton and Mark's bathroom party and did a rap routine. Anton talked about wine gums told Mark that his chat-up line was "you're the best looking girl in this house". Aaron wanted to talk shopping but Faye wrestled with him on the bed in horseplay. Aaron thrust his bottom in the air as he grappled with Faye. Aaron cuddled up to Maisy and Faye with whom he shared the bed.

Day 15 was eviction day with either Heaven or Rebeckah leaving the house. Tom told Mark that he loved him, he said he also loved Tom. In the bedroom, Anton talked love, girls and money with Maisy, Faye and Louise. As he watched them dress, he told them that "love is more powerful than money".^[59] The housemates preened themselves in preparation for eviction night. Jay did some body shaving in the bathroom. While Harry, Louise and Alex prepared breakfast, Aaron had a naked shower at the outdoor shower with his large penis, testicles and his small butt in full view of the other housemates and under the gaze of the cameras as he stood beneath the shower in the sunny garden, as shown on the next night's highlights show. Heaven was upset that the others had cooked food while she slept. Heaven separated the "veggie" food from the rest and said she was not a strict vegan. Aaron gave Faye a back massage with oils and undid her bra strap, she told him not to get too intimate. The housemates gathered awaiting the public verdict. Rebeckah was evicted, Heaven saved.^[61] Rebeckah left them a farewell message dedicate mainly to Aden. She said Anton was "a snake", Heaven "an actress" and she liked Harry and Maisy but she ignored the rest. Anton looked shocked, Heaven said Rebeckah was "dangerous". When interviewed by Brian, Rebeckah said, yes, she had fancied Aden. Back in the house, Aaron was shocked by the gossip that Rebeckah had spread about him kissing her in Week 1. Aden told Aaron that he "was a mate". Aden was very upset over Rebeckah's departure. Anton called her "the devil". Aden hugged Aden and Mark and Jay later comforted him as they sat in the smoking area. Left alone, Aden said to himself, "I love you, Rebeckah, I love you Rebeckah". Later in the bedroom, Aaron and Tom cuddled up in bed once again.

Day 16 The morning after eviction night. The housemates enjoyed a lazy Saturday morning. Mark was naked in the indoor shower and told Harry that he intended to masturbate soon, which made Harry feel sick. Mark talked to Anton about the housemates' pictures while still in the shower. Louise said that Rebeckah's caustic message made her "feel funny". Aden philosophised about Rebeckah's departure. Anton talked to Maisy about the housemates' love lives. Tom talked to Aaron about their love for each other. Anton was given a sticker to put over his mouth as a reprimand for his nominations talk. He communicated with Maisy with grunts. Maisy, Jay and Anton shared a bed for a while. They kicked Jay out of the bed. Anton had a heart-to-heart with Maisy saying how much he liked her and Louise. Anton told Maisy he only got "wary hugs" from her because he had an erection but Jay got "warm hugs". Task: "Top Chumps" Part 1: Rating other housemates on categories by placing stickers in confidential survey sheet and rating qualities with percentage, writing 3 metres apart from each other. Part 2: Team captains: Aaron and Anton, revealing scores on personal qualities of housemates when velcro removed. Each team member had to spin a wheel with the housemates' photographs on it. When it stopped, they had to choose a quality of their own which they felt they would beat their opponent's scores.^[62] The winners were the Red Team of Aaron, Tom, Faye, Alex Harry and Mark and their prize was a luxury party later that evening. The losers were Anton, Louise, Heaven, Aden, Maisy and Jay. Heaven was cross at being rated least popular housemate and told Big Brother she would "keep being herself". Tom and Aaron stripped off and shared a victory shower together. Tom covered his penis as Maisy was in the bathroom and she left after he said, "I've got a willy". As he washed his hair, Tom's very slim body and very small butt were seen and his long penis was clearly visible as it wiggled behind the shower screen for his first naked shower on the highlights show.^[63] The Red Team enjoyed a buffet of pizza, sweets and alcohol in the garden while the losers looked on. Aaron hugged Tom but later chose to share the bed with Faye and Maisy. During the day, the gossip spread about Aaron and Maisy's bedtime activity. Anton confided in Louise that he believed they had been intimate, he said Jay also knew. Louise feigned surprise at the news and quietly spread the gossip. Maisy was given "the sack" for discussing nominations. Aaron and Tom sat on the bed with tea and custard creams and disliked their likes and dislikes among the housemates. Tom said disliked men with bad teeth. Aaron said he wasn't keen on Aden and Anton and Tom added Jay and Heaven to the list of dislikes.^[67] After hearing the gossip from Jay and Louise, Faye said she was shocked by Maisy and Aaron's bedtime episode. Faye said she had thought Maisy would go for Jay and thought it was "weird" that she and Aaron had been together. The housemates faced a tasting task called "Mealshakes" in which they had to guess two classic meal flavour combinations blended together into a milkshake, e.g. fish and chips, beans and toast. The winners were Tom, Harry, Anton and Aden who dressed for a formal dinner in their best clothes. They were served a luxury meal by Heaven who dressed up as a waiter with a false moustache. Tom said she looked like Eddie Murphy. She had to take their food and wine orders and act attentively as they dined. The males looked very smart but they were rude to Heaven who took their joshing in good heart. Tom looked very cute in a bow tie. After the dinner, there was a showdown in the house over Aaron's romancing of Maisy the night before. Tom told Faye he was very upset over Kissgate and felt confused over Aaron leading him on, then kissing Maisy in bed. An angry Maisy confronted Faye, Louise and Tom and told them that she and Aaron had only kissed and they had not had sex. Maisy confronted Anton about his role in spreading the idea that she and Aaron had sex after he's ogled them and laughed when they'd finished kissing. A shirtless Anton stood up for himself, saying that Jay had asked Aaron if he'd had intercourse with Maisy and Aaron had covered his eyes as if to say yes. Anton, keen to keep Maisy in his grasp, told her that he'd heard her make sex noises and that had made him laugh. He managed to put most of the blame for Chinese whispers onto Jay, Faye and Louise and gave Maisy a knowing hug. Tom grew annoyed when Aaron spent time chatting to Maisy about Kissgate into the early hours. Maisy was cross with Aaron for trying to claim a conquest after the bedtime kissing. He explained that the others had let it all get out of hand. After his embarrassment, Aaron decided he must leave the house and visited the diary room. However, Jay talked him round and offered him a cup of tea.^[68]

Day 18 Monday morning dawned in the aftermath of a night of heated rows over Kissgate. Tom was first to rise and boil the kettle. After the fallout over Kissgate, Aaron remained in bed until late morning. Tom told Maisy not to blame the mirrors for her looking awful. Faye and Mark talked about Aaron. Maisy and Mark went into the bedroom to encourage Aaron to get out of bed. Aaron said he didn't want to be around anyone and got up at midday. Nominations began.

Heaven, Aden and Maisy received the first three golden swimsuits, however Pamela chose the final golden housemate as Rebeckah. She had to choose one of the other three and remove their privilege - she chose Aden, hence he was no longer immune from eviction.

After the relative success of the return of the Celebrity version, the main series has shown modest ratings to date with a tendency to dip at weekends. The launch night of the first edition of Big Brother 2011 on Channel 5 on 9 September 2011 attracted a modest audience of 2.6 million.^[69] The first highlights show fell back to 1.26 million viewers.^[70] The second highlights show were slightly up, logging 1.48 million. Ratings held up for the first weekday highlights on Monday 12 September at 1.43 million.^[71] Ratings slipped on Tuesday 13 September to 1.37 million^[72] but recovered the following night back to 1.43 million.^[73] Despite trailers promising some lively action in the house, ratings fell to 1.16 million on 15 September, due to a later time slot after football.^[74] The first eviction night highlights show drew 1.83 million, down 0.8 million on the launch, with 1.25 million returning for the post-eviction interview show.^[75] On Saturday 17 September, the series slumped to an-all series low below a million viewers attracting just 925 thousand viewers, partly due to late scheduling after a boxing match.^[76] The show recovered to 1.24 million for the Sunday night 10pm highlights on 18 September despite a number of draws on the other terrestrial channel including the return of ITV1's blockbuster Downton Abbey clashing with its time slot.^[77] Ratings held up at 1.4 million on Monday 19 September despite a late time slot and held up the next night at 1.46 million.^[78][79] However, despite the promise of some lively action in the house during the Say Yes! tasks, ratings dipped to 1.36 million on Wednesday 21 September.^[80] Ratings remained static the next night, despite a high-profile bungee jump stunt being trailed before the show, but they were marginally up from the previous Thursday night at 1.31 million.^[81] Ratings dropped for the second Friday eviction show to 1.49 million, but improved for the Saturday night show featuring house lothario Aaron showering naked in the garden and the fallout from Rebeckah's eviction, gaining 1.09 million.^[82][83] With a lively series of house events in the wake of Kissgate, ratings were slightly up on Sunday 25 September to 1.34 million, despite strong competition from ITV's The Only Way is Essex and Downton Abbey.^[84]

The press was initially slow to pick up on events in the house after heavy coverage of the previous Celebrity series, despite the launch night twist of inviting Pamela Anderson as weekend houseguest. The on-off relationship between Rebeckah and Aden in Week 1 invited early media attention. The 18-30 profile of the housemates and high levels of male nudity seen in the launch week highlights shows also attracted the tabloid headlines.^[85] Late in Week 1, Mark and Tom's skinny dipping and the housemates "naked" Conga dance drew media interest. Aaron and Tom's party kisses further boosted media in the show with Tashie's eviction proving a talking point. Coverage in the press and online media was boosted by the 2 day "Say Yes!" task on Days 12 with a variety of tasks making the headlines including Mark's nude task and Alex's spraytan encounter, but did not impact on the ratings. The Sun reported on the struggling ratings in its edition of Thursday 22 September 2011.^[86] As the sexual activity in the house picked up in Week 3, the Daily Mail reported on the Kissgate incident between Aaron and Maisy.^[66]

The overall look of the house and the format of entrances, nominations and evictions has remained similar to that established during the show's ten year run on Channel 4, except for that it is vote to save in the Channel 5 format, whereas in most public votes on Channel 4 it was vote to evict. Major differences include the omission of live feed both on television and the internet in favour of updates on social media platforms along with online voting. The daily highlights programme has tended to be contain new devices such as flashbacks, fast forward visual effects and incidental music, though those these were toned down in Week 2.

Though Big Brother has contained many scenes of nudity in previous years, the current Channel 5 series has had more frequent occurrences of nudity than usual in the highlights shows, especially when showing the male housemates showering in the nude. On Day 15, the highlights show revealed that senior male housemate Aaron takes a daily naked shower in the garden and showed an explicit view of his unclothed body, butt and genitals while he showered at the outdoor shower. In the daytime repeat, Aaron's penis was airbrushed and his nude scenes were edited down and replaced with a view of him towelling off. Some of the more explicit male nudity has been edited out or pixellated for daytime repeats of the highlights shows. Most of the male housemates' bare bottoms and genitals have been exposed to the cameras and these body parts have featured on a regular basis in the nightly highlights shows. In contrast to many overseas editions which have featured explicit bathroom nudity, in the previous UK series, most housemates have worn swimwear when seen showering on camera, though there have been many incidents of streaking and lewd behaviour on camera before the move to Channel 5. Most of the female housemates have remained in their swimwear while showering and none has appeared fully naked on camera to date. The Channel 5 series has also contained very frank discussion about sex and male masturbation and on Day 16, featured footage of Mark and Jay holding a "wanking contest" in which they came and spilled their semen on the bedclothes to their housemates' shock.^[3] There has also been frank discussion of sexual techniques such as spooning and fisting and in the early hours of Day 17, Aaron and Maisy were filmed embracing and kissing in be which led to speculation that they'd had intercourse on camera.^[66] Lavatorial talk has also featured with Louise and Mark talking about defaecation during Week 3.
