Bavutagudde place in Heart of Mangaluru. This name came after the Amara Sulya flag hoist in this place. In [[Kannada]], [[Arebhashe dialect|Arebhashe]], and [[Tulu language|Tulu]] the word Bavuta means Flag. This was the very place wherein the year 1837, the British flag was lowered by the Amara Sulya Freedom Fighters.
