Aghberk (Armenian: Աղբերք), previously known as Aghbulag (Azerbaijani: Ağbulaq) until 1991[2] is a village in the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia. The village was populated by Azerbaijanis before the exodus of Azerbaijanis from Armenia after the outbreak of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In 1988-1989 Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan settled in the village.[3][4][5]

The original name is a combination of two words: agh which means "white" and bulag which means "spring" in Azerbaijani hinting to its high quality and potable spring waters[6]

The population of the village consisted of 136 Azerbaijanis in 1831 rising to 575 Azerbaijanis in 1886 and to 1,329 by 1919.[7] 1,450 Azerbaijani people lived in the village in 1979 and until 1988 when the Azerbaijani inhabitants permanently fled to Azerbaijan after the outbreak of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.[8]

Now the entire population is Armenian and the village had 278 residents as per the 2011 census.
