BBC Alba (or BBC Gàidhlig) is the Scottish Gaelic name for Scotland's national broadcaster, BBC Scotland and the name is generally used to describe the Scottish Gaelic services of the BBC.
Some of BBC Alba's more notable programming includes the international issues magazine Eòrpa (Europe), children's programme Dè a-nis? (What Now?) and comedy sketch show Air ais air an Ràn Dàn (Back on the Ran Dan).
BBC Alba is responsible for the national Scottish Gaelic radio station BBC Radio nan Gàidheal. BBC Alba is also jointly responsible with MG Alba for the Gaelic-language television channel, which is also called BBC Alba[1].
In July 2008, the BBC Alba website launched an extended news service to tie in with the launch of the digital television channel.[2]
