Buscopan Plus

Hi, I would reply in portuguese as you are from SP but well we are at en.wiki

Buscopan Composto (Buscopan Plus in Brazil) still carries dipirona (Metazoline), and I know that because I'm currently under medication by it for renal colis. If you wish I can copy and paste the complete composition table for it.

It's funny how most medicines in Brazil changed from dipirona to Paracetamol (the usual over-the-counter anti-flu, like Resprin and so on), but Buscopan didn't. I must say, however, it's quite stronger than paracetamol, at least in controling renal colics pains. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Caiobrz (talk • contribs) 22:01, 18 April 2007 (UTC).

It's good to edit again. Hope all is well with you! -- Samir 01:54, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Those vandals have now been blocked, BTW Alison 21:47, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the minor fixes at WSV. As you were the one who passed the original GA, do you have any other suggestions? It's currently going through an FAC, and I'd like to be able to get it absolutely shipshape and Bristol fashion. Laïka 18:06, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

DNA et al

I missed it, but I see it came out OK. I'm looking at everything I have to get through on my talk page, and thinking about running to hide under a sofa :-) If you get a chance, can you look at WP:FAR, the cannabis rescheduling article? It's in bad need of wikilinking, and a lot of it is pharmaceutical linking. At least see what you think of it? It's been at FAR a while; I should have paid attention sooner. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:54, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so much, FV, very nice work — it's got some weird (HTML?) error going on, that won't let me edit by section. I left a note to Gimmetrow on the FAR page, as he's likely to know what it is. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:32, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Hard to explain; besides that I'm so worn out from the work, every time I look at my talk page, I feel like I'll never catch up. I may have to wipe it clean and ignore what I ignore.  :/ SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:38, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Clopidogrel

Hi Selket. I just noticed a glitch in your SVG of clopidogrel—please check CID 60606 from PubChem for the correct structure. Best (and good luck with your RfA), Fvasconcellos (t·c) 20:57, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

You are indeed right. I had a brain spasm of some kind when I saw the COOCH3 (methylate?) group. I'll upload a new one. --Selket Talk 23:26, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Theobromine

Hello, Fvasconcellos, I have since found some information on the history of theobromine. Not much, though -- only when it was first isolated and who first synthesized it, but it's significant since there is very little information available on the history of theobromine. Tell me what you think. Signed, your friendly neighborhood MessedRocker. 05:43, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Marbury v. Madison

Did seem like an odd one to vandalise :s I haven't set an expiry because the vandalism seems to have been going on for a while, but I'll set any expiry you want me to - your judgement would be better than mine on that count, because you've been reverting it for a while. If not, do make a request at RFPP when you deem fit. Cheers, – Riana 13:46, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Hvae you looked at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Anabolic steroid/archive3? I am still so far behind it's scary, so I don't want to dig back into FAC, but how does this article work with WP:MEDMOS ? Does it cover the territory drugs should cover, and does the article structure/organization make sense ? I keep trying to check things off of my talk page to see if I've caught up yet; I think I'm fighting a losing battle. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:10, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

RfA Thanks

Thank you for your note of congratulations on my talk page and, of course, your support on my recent RfA. I hope I can live up to everyone's expectations. I plan to continue to contribute to pharmacology project articles, so I'm sure we will continue to work together in the future. --Selket Talk 16:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Your note

Thanks! Fortunately the GA was not pulled when I had to do some major re-organization due to the reviewer's comments. I suspect that when the final CENIPA/NTSB reports come in, we'll have to do another overhaul. That's the price you pay for covering dynamic subjects, I guess. Crum375 00:35, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

RfA?

Hi Fvasconcellos, if you're interested in running for adminship, let me know. I think you'd do a great job and I'd be happy to nominate you -- Samir 00:36, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

  • And I'll gladly co-nom :) - Alison 00:47, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
You'd do a great job. You're right that some people get antsy about a perceived lack of AfD or projectspace edits, but that's often because it raises questions about whether the person really needs the tools. Not everyone closes AfD's - if you have specific instances where you'd find them useful, then that combined with your experience and your calm and rational approach convinces me you should do it. Think about it; I think you'd do a good job if you decide you'd find the tools useful. MastCell Talk 02:06, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, everyone. I see where this is headed... Fvasconcellos (t·c) 02:14, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Don't worry about the paucity of edits to the latest in the alphabet soup (AfDs, XfDs, MMVA's, ERCPs...) I think what most people are looking for in sysops are common sense people with a good track record of contributions. You easily fit the bill! -- Samir 01:46, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
No probs, why don't we wait until June 1, read up on WP:ADMIN, Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list and have a peek at Wikipedia:Administrators' how-to guide. If you want to throw your hand at the alphabet soup, go ahead as well. I'll have this page (User:Samir/Fvasconcellos RFA) blue-linked before June 1 (Alison, feel free to co-nom); you can answer the questions and we can go live after that! -- Samir 04:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Samir. I'll fill in the RfA template in a minute here. I'd be honoured to co-nom such an excellent editor - Alison 22:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

No problema!

Não tem de quê, my dear! :) I saw your message to Allie and I said "well, while I'm in town..." Btw, could you do me a tiny favor, please? I just posted a poem in Portuguese at my userpage, but since I copied it manually, I'm not sure about its spelling. Could you proofread it for me, please? Thank you! :) Phaedriel - 00:19, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you both for the favor and your kind words, sweetie! :) Yes, I do understand a little Portuguese, do I should say that I actually read it, and hardly ever speak it - my accent is an insult to your language! By the way, (and thanks to your username!) I just noticed that, oddly enough, we don't have an article on José Mauro de Vasconcelos... they do at "five" wikis, but we still miss it - can you believe it? So I just went over to Portuguese wiki and brought it to my sandbox to translate it. Feel free to join me if you have the time! ;) It's great to meet you at last. Love, Phaedriel - 00:33, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for kickstarting the work with the translation, dear! :) I know you're currently with a lot of projects in your hands, so please, only invest time there when, and if you have the time. I'll keep going meanwhile, and I'll show it to you when it's done, k? And - I fully endorse Samir, Allie and Ryan's idea - so that means you already have 4 supports in advance! Go for it! ;) Love, Phaedriel - 03:11, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm working on a policy addition to the above policy page at the head of the Bibliographies section. I would like it if you could take a look at it, fine tune it if you can, so that it could have more consensus. Hopefully this will clarify a pro-bibliography position at Wikipedia.-BillDeanCarter 01:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually MOS and sub-Manuals of Style are guidelines. I must say I don't like the sound of an indiscriminately "pro-bibliography position". I'll comment at the LOW talk page. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 02:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
That's fine. I'm looking for a reasonable consensus and I don't have all the answers.-BillDeanCarter 02:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Are there any WP policies on List of Works?-BillDeanCarter 02:32, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I'll reply here to keep this centralized, as you seem to be watching. In my very humble opinion and perhaps limited understanding, all relevant Wikipedia policies should apply. Verifiability, neutrality and an absence of original research or material which may be construed as such should certainly be paramount, as in creating and maintaining any article—I can't see why they should not apply just because the article is a list? Guidance on style and consistency across a topic is the work of MOS. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 02:50, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

T. Yearwood

Yes, the reasons for the edit summary are complex (and unimportant). I linked the artists on World Peace One and TY was the only red link. I thought that there was probably an article somewhere, but since I couldn't find it (tried backtracking from Jasper County) thought I'd put in a stub just in case. Thanks, Rich Farmbrough, 14:17 19 May 2007 (GMT).

you dot es dot

Please read what I said to DCGeist on this hedgehog that some Americans still insist on. I don't care what the "authorities" say; I'm disappointed that you're going around adding these ugly dots, probably out of some fervent sense of doing what is "correct". Well don't. Why? Because it's UGLY, it's inconsistent with the substantial, clear change in attitude throughout English (including AmEng) towards dotting initialisms and acronyms, and because it takes four rather than two spaces. The U.S. and the UK, we have now.

British usage has gone almost entirely against the Oxford Dictionary's insistence—still—on -ize- and its variants; usage out there is firmly -ise-. While this is not a matter of ugliness and inconsistency with similar forms, as you dot es dot is, the point is that language authorities should be taken only so seriously, especially when there are good reasons to go against them. That is how language changes.

Very disappointed in your actions. Tony 23:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Dead right I do. I think you should stop. In just a few matters, WP's MoS sucks, in my view, and I encourage people to breach it. A major issue is the linking of full dates, which I now discourage until the techs fix the conflated auto-formatting/linking problem. So you see, I think we should toe the line almost always. If there were no tension with rules, the language would be set in cement (more like French). My ideal would be if you reverted the results of your dotitis and ignored the MoS (which appears to ignore English-language usage of "US" outside North America (and increasingly inside it), and is thus undesirably biased on that matter). Tony 23:42, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
MOS: "Contemporary style omits many periods and spaces that were traditionally required. For example, PhD is preferred over Ph.D. or Ph. D., but do not omit periods from abbreviations that cannot be clearly identified as such without them." Tony 23:50, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
PS Ah, so you're responsible for the excellence of the metformin article. I was impressed when I read it a while ago. Tony 23:53, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
The upper case does the trick WRT any possible confusion between the name of the country and a well-known personal pronoun. On metformin, perhaps you're a cardiovascular expert? I want to know why it's not routinely prescribed for pre-diabetics and those with metabolic syndrome, at least after it's determined that an individual tolerates it well (about 30% don't tolerate it well, I believe, and a significant proportion suffer few or no side-effects if they take the pills with food). It would seem to me to offer significant savings to health expenditure if at least some people took it, even at a low dose, as a preventative measure. Tony 07:01, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

language and the law

Unless there are legal reasons for including those symbols, and my gut instinct strongly says that there aren't, I support that move. IANAD on your page would bely the barriers that WP can at least blur, if not break down, between non- and semi-experts, and experts. After all, those who aren't daily practitioners have the advantage of strategic distance. My guess is that you translate for the legal process—courts, medical tribunals and the like. But you say "translation", not "interpreting", so I'm probably wrong. Whatever it is, you may be interested in listening online to, or podcasting, an ABC Radio program that aired just this morning; it looks at the role of interpreters in the court room. What a tangled web. [1] Tony 23:35, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Lung cancer

Thanks for your advice. From reading the assessment guidelines, it wasn't explicitly obvious to me that A-class is better than Good article. In any case, the article still requires quite a bit more work to become a Good article. Axl 19:54, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Joseph Priestley

Since you are the only person to really drop by the Joseph Priestley page recently, I thought I would ask for your help (I also noticed that, according to your userboxes, you have knowledge of biology and chemistry - exactly what I am looking for). I am attempting to do justice to Priestley's article but am running into a problem. As a twenty-first century academic I have been forced to specialize (especially for the dissertation) to the extent that I find it difficult to understand all of Priestley's writings - he wrote on grammar, education, political theory, theology, philosophy, metaphysics and science/natural philosophy. To succinctly summarize and explain in layman's terms Priestley's accomplishments in all of these areas is difficult when one only partially understands them oneself. Hence, my appeal for help. My weakest area is science. The descriptions in the Priestley literature (of which there is not that much, frankly) of his experiments leave me a little mystified. I'm sure that if I understood chemistry and its history better I would understand the explanations of the experiments better, but, alas, I am not as informed as I should be - there are only so many hours in the day. I was wondering if you would be interested in reading a few chapters out of Robert Schofield's biography of Priestley or a few articles on the experiments and helping me refine the article. Priestley is a fascinating figure not only because he was one of the last "Renaissance men" but because of the interesting interconnections he represents between politics, religion and science during the eighteenth century. I am not asking for anything immediate; since I really do need help, I would take it whenever it was offered and, of course, I would be willing to help you on any article(s) you might need assistance on. I am a fairly good reviewer and copy editor (the years of teaching freshmen how to write, perhaps), so I would certainly be willing to aid you along those lines in return for your help or, if that does not appeal, anything else that you might need. Thanks. Awadewit Talk 09:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
