Hi, I would reply in portuguese as you are from SP but well we are at en.wiki

Buscopan Composto (Buscopan Plus in Brazil) still carries dipirona (Metazoline), and I know that because I'm currently under medication by it for renal colis. If you wish I can copy and paste the complete composition table for it.

It's funny how most medicines in Brazil changed from dipirona to Paracetamol (the usual over-the-counter anti-flu, like Resprin and so on), but Buscopan didn't. I am still so far behind it's scary, so I don't want to dig back into FAC, but how does this article work with WP:MEDMOS ? Does it cover the territory drugs should cover, and does the article structure/organization make sense ? You'd do a great job. You're right that some people get antsy about a perceived lack of AfD or projectspace edits, but that's often because it raises questions about whether the person really needs the tools. Not everyone closes AfD's - if you have specific instances where you'd find them useful, then that combined with your experience and your calm and rational approach convinces me you should do it. I'll reply here to keep this centralized, as you seem to be watching. In my very humble opinion and perhaps limited understanding, all relevant Wikipedia policies should apply. Verifiability, neutrality and an absence of original research or material which may be construed as such should certainly be paramount, as in creating and maintaining any article—I can't see why they should not apply just because the article is a list? Please read what I said to DCGeist on this hedgehog that some Americans still insist on. I don't care what the "authorities" say; I'm disappointed that you're going around adding these ugly dots, probably out of some fervent sense of doing what is "correct". Well don't. Why? Because it's UGLY, it's inconsistent with the substantial, clear change in attitude throughout English (including AmEng) towards dotting initialisms and acronyms, and because it takes four rather than two spaces. The U.S. and the UK, we have now.

British usage has gone almost entirely against the Oxford Dictionary's insistence—still—on -ize- and its variants; usage out there is firmly -ise-. While this is not a matter of ugliness and inconsistency with similar forms, as you dot es dot is, the point is that language authorities should be taken only so seriously, especially when there are good reasons to go against them. That is how language changes.

Dead right I do. I think you should stop. In just a few matters, WP's MoS sucks, in my view, and I encourage people to breach it. A major issue is the linking of full dates, which I now discourage until the techs fix the conflated auto-formatting/linking problem. So you see, I think we should toe the line almost always. If there were no tension with rules, the language would be set in cement (more like French). My ideal would be if you reverted the results of your dotitis and ignored the MoS (which appears to ignore English-language usage of "US" outside North America (and increasingly inside it), and is thus undesirably biased on that matter). The upper case does the trick WRT any possible confusion between the name of the country and a well-known personal pronoun. On metformin, perhaps you're a cardiovascular expert? I want to know why it's not routinely prescribed for pre-diabetics and those with metabolic syndrome, at least after it's determined that an individual tolerates it well (about 30% don't tolerate it well, I believe, and a significant proportion suffer few or no side-effects if they take the pills with food). It would seem to me to offer significant savings to health expenditure if at least some people took it, even at a low dose, as a preventative measure. Tony 07:01, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Unless there are legal reasons for including those symbols, and my gut instinct strongly says that there aren't, I support that move. IANAD on your page would bely the barriers that WP can at least blur, if not break down, between non- and semi-experts, and experts. After all, those who aren't daily practitioners have the advantage of strategic distance. My guess is that you translate for the legal process—courts, medical tribunals and the like. But you say "translation", not "interpreting", so I'm probably wrong. Whatever it is, you may be interested in listening online to, or podcasting, an ABC Radio program that aired just this morning; it looks at the role of interpreters in the court room. Since you are the only person to really drop by the Joseph Priestley page recently, I thought I would ask for your help (I also noticed that, according to your userboxes, you have knowledge of biology and chemistry - exactly what I am looking for). I am attempting to do justice to Priestley's article but am running into a problem. As a twenty-first century academic I have been forced to specialize (especially for the dissertation) to the extent that I find it difficult to understand all of Priestley's writings - he wrote on grammar, education, political theory, theology, philosophy, metaphysics and science/natural philosophy. To succinctly summarize and explain in layman's terms Priestley's accomplishments in all of these areas is difficult when one only partially understands them oneself. Hence, my appeal for help. My weakest area is science. The descriptions in the Priestley literature (of which there is not that much, frankly) of his experiments leave me a little mystified. I'm sure that if I understood chemistry and its history better I would understand the explanations of the experiments better, but, alas, I am not as informed as I should be - there are only so many hours in the day. I was wondering if you would be interested in reading a few chapters out of Robert Schofield's biography of Priestley or a few articles on the experiments and helping me refine the article. Priestley is a fascinating figure not only because he was one of the last "Renaissance men" but because of the interesting interconnections he represents between politics, religion and science during the eighteenth century. I am not asking for anything immediate; since I really do need help, I would take it whenever it was offered and, of course, I would be willing to help you on any article(s) you might need assistance on. I am a fairly good reviewer and copy editor (the years of teaching freshmen how to write, perhaps), so I would certainly be willing to aid you along those lines in return for your help or, if that does not appeal, anything else that you might need.
