Malaysian Super Schools Rugby (SSR) stands as the pinnacle of school rugby in Malaysia, embracing the authentic 15-a-side format. Established in 2013, the tournament that energized by Enervive Sports has consistently delivered top-tier youth rugby action and propelled numerous former participants to represent Malaysia across various rugby disciplines.

SSR continues its tradition of excellence, embodying the spirit of rugby and offering a platform for young talents to step into greatness. With expanded participation and the legacy of past champions, SSR promises to deliver unforgettable moments and inspire the next generation of rugby stars. .[1]

Format

For the 9th Edition of Super Schools Rugby 2024, 5 new teams, Sekolah Menengah Sains Pokok Sena (SAINA), Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abi, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Yahya Petra 1, Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gombak, MRSM Balik Pulau have been invited to the tournament.

20 teams split into four pools of five teams, with top 3 teams from each pool qualify for playoffs after 40 pool matches. Each pool winners receive bye in the wildcard round and will face the winners from wildcard round in the quarter finals.

Second-placed teams from each pool face third-placed teams from another pool in Wildcard round, with winners progressing to the quarter finals. Winners from quarter-finals will progress into the semi-finals - and winners from semi finals will compete in the Grand Finals for the right to lift the Tan Sri Wan Aziz Challenge Trophy.[2] Since 2016, the cup is known as Malaysia Airports Chairman’s Challenge Trophy.[3][4]
