Description |
The text reads "Greek-Macedonian rebel" ("Ελληνομακεδών αντάρτης" in Greek and "Macedonian rebel", "Guerrier Macédoine" in French) Carte postale published in 1908 at Thessaloniki, Macedonia during the Ottoman rule of Greece. This type of postcards were published just after the Macedonian struggle conflicts ended. When the revolution of "Young Turks" in 1908, the new constitution promised to respect the right to self-determination of all ethnicities and religions. These postcards were later soon banned in the years before the Balkan Wars. |
