Love, Bonito is a fashion start-up company from Singapore.[1] It was founded in 2010 by Rachel Lim.[2][3]

History

Rachel Lim started the business with 2 other friends, Viola and Velda Tan by buying clothes from other countries then sold them in Singapore using blogshop LiveJournal and called their business as BonitoChico. In 2010, Rachel Lim, Velda Tan, and Viola changed BonitoChico name to Love, Bonito to start globally and used their own website.[4]

Name Meaning

The Love, Bonito logo itself has a philosophy, namely, writing "Love, Bonito" which is taken from writing a complimentary closing salutation in the letter. The word "Bonito" is taken from Portuguese which means beautiful. Apart from that, the word "Bonito" to refers to a woman so that it is in accordance with the values ​​upheld by Love, Bonito himself is related to women's empowerment.[5] Their slogan is from Asian Women for Asian Women. [6]

Digital Platform

Love, Bonito started with blogshop and was being voted by blogger community in Singapore to become Best Blogshop in 2010.[7] The effect of website content, its perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use towards customer purchase intention in Love, Bonito.[8]

Physical Store

In 2017, it opened the first physical store in Singapore after getting success with e-commerce.[9][10] In 2022 it started flagship store in Hong Kong, Australia, Philippines, and United States.[11]

Investment

In 2018, Love, Bonito secured US$13 million series B investment from Kakaku.com and Openspace Ventures. In 2021, Love, Bonito bagged US$50 million series C investment from China-based private equity (PE) firm Primavera Capital Group.[12]
