Batman is cool and I like him.

This editor is a Senior Editor and is entitled to display this Rhodium Editor Star.

I am TheJoebro64, arguably the best, most productive editor that has ever graced Wikipedia.

Nah, just kidding. I'm just your average joe (pun intended) who likes video games (mostly Sonic the Hedgehog), DC Comics, and movies. Feel free to reach me via my talk page.

About me[edit]

My name is Joseph (you can call me "Joe", of course!) and I'm a 19-year-old college student (I'm an art studio major) currently living in Washington, D.C. I've been an active Wikipedia editor since 2016.

Other things you should know about me:

  • I'm from New England. (Yes, this means I'm a disgusting, unironic Patriots and Tom Brady fan. Sorry to disappoint.)
  • I really enjoy video games, comics, and film. My edit history should make this obvious, but doesn't hurt to just say it outright :V
  • When I'm not on Wikipedia, I'm usually at the gym, doing homework, spending time with friends and family, or sleeping.
  • My personal hobbies include drawing, going for walks/runs, playing video games, watching TV/movies, and editing Wikipedia (duh).
  • Beliefs-wise, I'm Catholic, while politically I consider myself an independent. (I was raised a Republican but I've become... pretty disillusioned with the direction the party's gone in.)
  • My favorite kinds of music are ambient, electronic, video game, classic rock, and country music.

My time on Wikipedia[edit]

I made my first edits to Wikipedia as an IP around 2014, and was usually instantly reverted (I wasn't too competent at the time). I forgot about editing Wikipedia until May 8, 2016, when I made an account to edit the Batman Returns article ([1]). In case you're wondering where my username comes from, it's a portmanteau of my full name and the "64" from the Nintendo 64.

I gradually built my Wiki-skills by just poking around and seeing what others did. I actually didn't learn of much of the core policies on my own; I was usually directed to them by another user. I think it was around late 2017 or early 2018 when I had a pretty firm grasp on how to get around, and it's just been a breeze from there. Nowadays I'm a regular at WP:VG, though I occasionally poke my head out at WP:COMICS and WP:FILM.

Topics of interest[edit]

My main passion on Wikipedia is video game articles—especially Sonic the Hedgehog. I was first introduced to Sonic when Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games came out for the Nintendo DS before getting into the main games. My favorite games are platformers, but I also enjoy fighting, action-adventure, arcade, and sandbox. I don't like FPSs, mostly because I hate first-person games in general (there are some though, like GoldenEye 007 and Minecraft, that I thoroughly enjoy). My favorite game? A tie between Super Mario 64 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (I usually the latter using the Sonic 3 Complete mod, which I think is the definitive version).

Aside from video games, I also edit articles related to comics, mostly DC Comics. I love Marvel, but DC characters always resonated with me more, probably because I grew up in a time when Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Lego Batman: The Videogame were popular. Mature readers comics, particularly DC Vertigo ones, have always fascinated me. My favorite comic series is Batman: The Long Halloween, and my favorite graphic novel is The Killing Joke. I dabble in film a bit as well; Joker (2019 film) and The Batman (film) are largely my work.

Tips[edit]

  • Don't let Wikipedia make you mad, because if you do, you might do something stupid.
  • Don't be a dick, especially to newcomers.
  • If someone else is being a dick to you, don't try to tolerate their abuse. Stand up to them (though not in a way that violates WP:NPA) and, if necessary, contact an admin for help.
  • Be bold!
  • If reverted, discuss! I used to have a lot of trouble with this, but I realized you can actually get your change through easier by discussing instead of edit warring.
  • Be a steward, not an owner.
  • Cite sources!
