Luis Fernando Cifuentes (born 1968) is a Colombian physician specializing in clinical pharmacology and health informatics. Cifuentes studied medicine at El Bosque University in Colombia, clinical pharmacology at University of London in the UK and health informatics at Purdue University in the US.

Under the leadership of Professor Nigel Benjamin,[1] in 1997 he correlated the relationship of ascorbic acid in the generation of nitric oxide from saliva.

Later, he continued his training in pharmacology that covered various topics associated with clinical pharmacology on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in the study of pain, where he has contributed to the rational use of analgesics in the fields of osteoarthritis,[2] neuropathic pain,[3] multimodal analgesics,[4] opioids[5] and neurostimulation.[6]

He was involved in telemedicine projects in 2017 with the first development of a rural care unit in Colombia.[7] Currently, he is a clinical professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia[8] and a member of the National Academy of Medicine[9] since 2017 for his work in the relationship of medical students with clinical research.[10] Cifuentes is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research and International Association for the Study of Pain.
