Shortcuts

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. This page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be userfied, restored as a draft or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). This means that content deleted after discussion—at articles for deletion, categories for discussion, or miscellany for deletion among other deletion processes—may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided at all.

Deleted mainspace articles may be refunded back to mainspace (eg for late contest of a WP:PROD deletion), or to userspace or draftspace. Depending on the circumstances, a refund request to mainspace might be rejected, but a refund request to draftspace or userspace might be accepted. Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting a refund of a deleted article.

This page is only for requesting undeletion of pages and files which have already been deleted. If the page you are concerned about is still visible, but has a warning message (template) at the top, please do not post here, but follow the instructions in the template or on your talk page. Please do not request that pages deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

Bear in mind that requests for undeletion are not and never a replacement for deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly. If you try to discuss but are still unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at Wikipedia:Deletion review, rather than here.

Carolinesiagian, if that's correct then you will have to ask about it on Indonesian Wikipedia. Administrators on English Wikipedia can't undelete pages on other Wikipedias. Jay & Deepfriedokra, I was sceptical about the account holder from the start, but didn't see anything definite enough to justify any action. I become even more sceptical when I see a user page created with no content except {{db-u1}}, especially considering that the page had previously been deleted at the user's request. As for the IP editing, I am inclined to wonder if we have a variant on the good-hand-account/bad-hand-account pattern. In any case, it looks to me as though somebody here may have crept out from under a bridge. Obviously both renaming the account and undeleting the user page on the basis of an IP request are out of the question, and personally I wouldn't do either even if they requested it from the account. Asking for a rename, then asking for it to be reversed, and asking for page deletion, recreating it with a built-in deletion request, and then asking for undeletion, are all part of a pattern of trolling, and shouldn't be rewarded. For the same reason I would have declined the user page speedy deletion request. I won't bet on the account escaping an indef for long, but in the meanwhile I don't think we should indulge them. Reason was cited as lack of notability but Amuka is well-known music artists in many circles across funk, hip-hop, dance and R&B and has had a long career with many hits that should be highlighted as they were on the platform. She has a related page of Sheila Horne. It would be most helpful if it could be undeleted or at the very least have the content emailed to me, her son. I am new to Wikipedia but if there are things that need to be improved about the page, please let me know and I will do whatever I can. I will learn what I must.   • @Jupiter50: As the wikiproject member who nominated the template for deletion a week ago, I noted that I wasn't sure that the template could be made to be as accurate, as it should be without containing any original research. The template was originally created based on WMO document which had converted all of the scales to 10-minute sustained winds. However, we had numerous complaints that the winds for the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale were not right, as that scale is based on 1-minute sustained wind speeds. As a result, 1-minute winds were added in while the rest of the categories were aligned to ensure that they were accurate, however, I feel that if we are adding in 1-minute wind speeds then we should add in 3-minute sustained wind speeds as the scale used by the India Meteorological Department is based on 3-minute sustained winds not 1- or 10. Its probably plausible to add them in but looking on the talk page, I see suggestions to add in various other scales, which I feel would lead to the template being further inaccurate. As a result, I sadly nominated the template for deletion and notified both Wikiproject tropical cyclones and Wikiproject Weather and a consensus formed here.Jason Rees (talk) 20:27, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you are reading me as saying that some content was salvageable, don't. Out of the 16 sources in the article, 8 were used to oversupport just 2 sentences of the article, and a 9th was the headlinese source giving the absurd article title. If you want to check it out for yourself, I have no objections to temporary userfication, but I'm warning you now that you'll be disappointed with what's there when you see it. A good half of it was either just quoting the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act verbatim or discussing a 2017 bill in the same vein. A far better approach, in my view, would be to work on the existing articles on the real subjects to make them less piss-poor, which I think that you'll find this not much help with in the end. I know this sounds self-serving and weird, making myself sound "notable", but I've now had multiple fans reach out to me about my wikipedia page being deleted. I'm the creator of Infinity Train, a show on Cartoon Network and HBOMax that already has a long wiki article. I also worked as a writer and board artist on Regular Show and Close Enough. I've done many interviews about my show, about those shows, and about animation as a whole. I'm an active writer of movies and television working in Hollywood right now and when I say something stupid on twitter it gets spread around the animation community. I'm not notable in live action, but I'm definitely a known person in animation, as much as any other animated show creator or animator such as Matt Braly, Dana Terrace, Alex Hirsch, or Felix Colgrave. Again, I don't like writing this, it makes me feel icky and like I'm puffing myself up. It just seems kinda weird that this page would be taken down, so I'm just reaching out to say.. uh... I guess let's bring it back? I mean if it's not worth it, then it's not worth it, no sweat off my back.   • @Oweeeeendennis: The issue here is that it was deleted as a WP:STICKYPROD - in other words, unless some sources were added to bring the article into compliance with our biographical standards, it would almost certainly end up deleted again, this time via a much-harder-to-overturn deletion debate. We would need to see some in-depth, non-routine, independent sources written by identifiable authors and published in outlets that have competent editorial oversight that fact-checks, retracts, discloses, and corrects - and a lot of them, depending on the length of the article, since every single claim that could be contested requires a source of that calibre - in order for us to even consider having an article on you or any other still-living or recently-departed person.     • Owen Dennis passes notability as the creator of Infinity Train, but this may not translate into a standalone article. All references of Dennis at Infinity Train are also primary (Reddit and Twitter). Given the autobiographical conflict here (Oweeeeendennis has previously edited Owen Dennis but only to make factual corrections and minor edits), I do not think he is in a position to get the article to a state as suggested by Jéské Couriano. Mass nomination of files that have entered the public domain since being uploaded[edit]

Images have all fallen into the public domain since being uploaded to Wikipedia. Requesting undeletion of previous revisions that were deleted under WP:F5. —HouseBlastertalk 17:28, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@HouseBlaster:  Done. However, the first revision of File:David Kalakaua Kawananakoa.jpg is the photo from this source, not a copy of the current image. Is there any information regarding its copyright status? ✗plicit 01:43, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Explicit: It appears that the blog post was from 2011. For the sake of argument, let's assume that the image is in the public domain. In that case, it would be a textbook case of a bad Commons:OVERWRITE: the deleted and restored versions are different files on the same topic (such as a photo of a cow uploaded over another photo of a cow). Therefore, the restored image would be split off from the deleted image. The deleted image would then be superseded by the restored image, because the deleted image is much more pixelated than the restored one. At the end of the day, the deleted image would still be deleted. I suggest we skip all of that and just keep the revision deleted (and move the definitely public domain parts to the Commons).
