Are you still interested in oddball articles (Little David Walker!) and hoaxes? If so, it looks like I stumbled across one that's been sitting around for nearly ten years today. Cheers,-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:49, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Looking for help[edit]

Hi,

I was looking for some small help. I created a new article in my user sandbox now the article stands transferred at Draft:Kithaab. The article has already received copyedit support from two Wikipedia Teahouse volunteer editors and has been recommended as complete and ready to be submitted for approval. Requesting your kind support in process of reviewing and accepting the article Draft:Kithaab. Thanks in advance and warm regards.

Draft:Chrysanthos Panas[edit]

Dear Sir/Madam,

As about the article I am trying to create I cannot understand the reason for the rejection. I understand since you are not Greek it is natural for you or anyone else to don't know a celebrity or a businessperson from this country but I want to know what was exactly the problem because I do not think what you wrote If this person is notable in Greece, why is there no mention on him at all on the Greek wikipedia? Unfortunately I am not seeing proof that this subject is notable enough to qualify for a Wikipedia article is a good explanation.

Since the subject of my Draft is about a businessperson from a minor country I would like to know the exact criteria for this case.

But if the problem is just the absence of an article in the Greek version of Wikipedia I will try to create an article there.

Yours,

Nicky — Preceding unsigned comment added by NickyButter (talk • contribs) 19:12, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Notability Tag[edit]

Greetings Milowent

I had created my first article on Sushrut Badhe and you had initially approved it as start class and placed a notability tag. When someone from the teahouse removed it after i commented on the subject, you replaced it asking me to wait for 60 days with this comment

Greetings Pavankum, I see someone else removed the notability tag per your comment at the Teahouse. After I approved your article for creation, I saw a number of prior attempts to create the article, which caused me some concern. I would propose to leave the notability tag on the article for 60 days to see if any editors disagree with my approval

Well, 60 days are up and no editor has disagreed with the approval so far in spite of my posting in the teahouse to verify the same. Can the tag be removed?

Thanks

Draft:Conquest Pictures[edit]

I am fascinated by this early Edison film production outfit producing classic story adaptations, travel features, documentary shorts, and ethical fare for young people. The surviving stop motion film short of cavemen (at the bottom of the article under "Other", film can be seen in its article..) just awesome. Sadly I don't know if any of the other films survive. The latest wave of PRODs and AfDs[edit]

To answer your question on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lookout, Wyoming, yes he wrote an essay (Wikipedia:Reliability of GNIS data) and is on a tear to remove all the "unincorporated" not-readily-apparent populated community stubs around the country. If you de-PROD, he AfDs. I can't even keep up with those he's PRODed just in Kentucky; I have to pick and choose which ones I tackle. I'm a Proposed Deletion Patroller so that's where I found out about these numerous PRODs. It takes quite a bit of research, and then editing, to enhance the articles. With so many PROD requests flying in each day, no one can keep up with the work. Perhaps there should be a governor to slow the rate at which PRODs and AfDs are submitted. Normal Op (talk) 00:21, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

Sure, FloridaArmy... CAT:PROD. Basically, I check each day's link and see if there's anything I want to save, research, de-prod, endorse, or whatever. You can also read more about it at Wikipedia:Proposed deletion. Normal Op (talk) 02:44, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

  • Normal Op, thanks for the background information! Surely the nominator will withdraw Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cooper Lake, Wyoming. Some editors think they can make a difference by going on a tear like this, hopefully they come to their senses quickly. It seems to me if they are locales and not unincorporated communities, he could just edit all the articles and add a notability tag. That would give editors time to review these. There's no deadline to complete this project we call Wikipedia.--Milowenthasspoken 12:32, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
Milowent, I've been dealing with him for almost a week now... on several articles. Seems like his main complaint is that someone loaded up Wikipedia with all these "points of interest" and labeled them communities — an error which has been propagated around the internet. Okay, so figure out what kind of point these items were, change the infobox, and move on. But no, once you identify the point, upgrade the article, he changes his tune to "it's not worthy enough for an article in Wikipedia". It's almost like he's using PROD and AfD to get other people to do the work NOW, with the whip of "I'll delete this article if you don't". I just hope the closing AfD admins see through the smoke. Don't forget to vote; you just made a comment, but neither Keep nor Delete vote. Normal Op (talk) 14:32, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ohmer, California[edit]

Hello, Milowent,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Jamez42 and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Ohmer, California, for deletion, because [consensus decision] previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Jamez42}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Template:Top25/doc[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:Top25/doc requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Since this template was merged with {{Top 25 report}}, the documentation on that template was updated, making this template an unused duplication of the currently used documentation

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Playboy lists[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Hi Milowent. As you saw from my comment to CaptainEek, I'm not sure how to best move this forward, but comments like yours here and your edit summary here should not be happening at all. Please refactor what you can and be more careful with your edit summaries. --Hipal (talk) 19:10, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

  • Hipal, i find your reversions of my work highly uncivil. this mass redirect of playmate year articles based in a single AFD, when there are many prior AFDs of year articles to the contrary, is shocking to the conscience.--Milowenthasspoken 19:12, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
However, that being said, I am stopping any reversions now, that's fair.--Milowenthasspoken 19:12, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, but the incivility is all yours. Please refactor your comments.
As you saw from my comment, I think more discussion is needed.
It would help to find all past discussions on the topic.
Thanks for ending the reverting. I'll do the same. --Hipal (talk) 19:16, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
  • Hipal, I'm glad we have some common ground. I will be intrigued to see how the discussions go. After about 15 years around here, its always interesting to see the same things come up in waves. Back in 2010 there was a semi-coup to delete about 20K? BLPs, it led me to start a project to add citations to every uncited BLP, of course that is far more work than mass redirects.--Milowenthasspoken 19:20, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Please retract [1] and remember to WP:FOC. --Hipal (talk) 15:31, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

  • hey, Hipal, i will not retract it unless the editor edits out his original comment. I am tired of women being denigrated and mistreated on this project, regardless of profession or station. I do not tolerate it. Playmates pose without clothes; calling them prostitutes is intended to besmirch them and belittle them and is toxic.--Milowenthasspoken 16:50, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Please reconsider. Addressing an editor's behavior should start on their talk page. Anywhere else can be disruptive. --Hipal (talk) 18:15, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

But my schedule is tougher so I would want to make sure I can deliver on time and with adequate time to research the "whys" of the entries!--Milowenthasspoken 21:53, 28 September 2021 (UTC)

My new book on Vanderpoole's fake news[edit]

Hi Milowent. I hope you are doing well and wish you a happy time for the end of the year.

I am about to publish in french (with a press kit mostly in english) a book about Lew Vanderpoole. The title is "Les impostures littéraires de Lew Vanderpoole : George Sand et Louis II de Bavière". In one or two days I will send it to be print on demand. It will be aswell available in ebook. I will of course mention your 2018 Wikipedia article and your contribution to the research on Wikipedia. Should I mention you as "Milowent" or do you want to appear on your real name, which I do'nt of course know ? Thx for giving a rapid answer to that question :) The contents of the book, after an introduction, is a biographical essay on Vanderpoole, then a chapter dedicated to the history of the Ludwig's article in Germany and France, followed by all the texts mostly of the american press about the fakes produced by Vanderpoole and how he tried to invent a false biography of himself. The book has 236 pages. Last august, I was interviewed by Carola Zinner, journalist at the bavarian radio. The broadcast "Der Märchenkönig und der Journalist Oder: Die Welt will betrogen sein" (in the serie Land und Leute) just came out on the 24th of december. Here is it in podcast and with a presentation text : https://www.br.de/radio/bayern2/der-maerchenkoenig-und-der-journalist-100.html

Hope to receive soon a return from you( a short one on my question about the mention of your name or nickname would be fine)

Happy new year and with my kindest regards

Anne Rice Award[edit]

Anne Rice.jpg Congratulations!
The Anne Rice Award honors editors who have improved Wikipedia's coverage of women writers by creating a biography of a woman writer who, like Anne Rice, used a pen name, nom de plume, literary initials, or pseudonym on the title page or by-line of her works in place of her real name. On behalf of WP:WPWW, thank you for creating the biography on Anne Hampton Brewster, who sometimes wrote as Enna Duval. --Rosiestep (talk) 20:56, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Monroe, Kansas discussion[edit]

Hello! Please strike the "buzzkill" comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Monroe, Kansas (2nd nomination), as it can be seen as a personal attack. Also, I agree with your position on the discussion.--Paul McDonald (talk) 18:03, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

  • Paul McDonald, thanks for your calm manner, i added a disclaimer since the editor already responded. And thanks for work on the AFD! Some of my AfD battles about a decade ago were quite the kerfuffle, but I'm now even wiser and calmer.--Milowenthasspoken 18:24, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
    • It's easy to lose composure, and a constant struggle. No worries.--Paul McDonald (talk) 18:44, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
