Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Finding a source[edit]

Tips for finding a source yourself
  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
  • Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
    • Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
  • Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
    • Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE, Taylor & Francis and much more.
  • Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.

Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request
  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
  • Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request[edit]

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
    • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
    • upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
    • email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.

Copyright tips:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
  • Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
  • Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

Alberto de Agostini biography request[edit]

No response for over 90 days. —Bruce1eetalk 06:23, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

I can get a chapter from this book, but I’ll need something more specific…like an actual chapter title and page numbers. Searching the Google Books preview for “Cueva de las Manos” didn’t really help. Umimmak (talk) 06:43, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
Pinging Tyrone Madera. —Bruce1eetalk 06:48, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
Bruce1ee, I don't have a chapter or page range because I'm going off of citation #2 in this source. I don't know how to find what chapter or page range the citation is referring to. Perhaps the first chapter would work? Best, Tyrone Madera (talk) 17:56, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
@Tyrone Madera: well I wanna make sure we figure out exactly what pages I request because I can only put in one request per book because of copyright restrictions. I've searched the text using Google Books and using HathiTrust [1] for "cueva" and got zero results. Searching Google Books for "1941" just mentions that was when the first edition of "Andes Patagónicos" came out. Given in your source the footnote does not appear at the end of the clause but after the name (e.g., These were discovered by Father De Agostini[1] in 1941 not These were discovered by Father De Agostini in 1941[1], and given the lack of a page number in the citation, I wonder if the footnote is more "If you want to read more about this person" vs backing up that particular claim? If you can figure out what pages Chapter 1 would be I can request that. I've done some digging around to see if any other authors site this book in relation to Cueva de las Manos with more specific page numbers or to see if I could find a copy of the table of context or index anywhere but haven't come up with much, but my Spanish might not be as good as yours. I wonder if it would be useful if you emailed the lead author of that paper you cited (you can find it pretty easily in other papers she's written), to see if she has more information?
Or perhaps another Wikipedia editor actually has access to the book, I realize knowing the exact pages in advance isn't always a practical request. Umimmak (talk) 20:27, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

@Poln fuel: We cannot provide a full copy per copyright laws. Do any particular chapters interest you (here's a table of contents: [2])? —‍Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 16:06, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
@Mdaniels5757: Maybe part 2 and part 4 would work for me.--Poln fuel (talk) 07:29, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
Poln fuel, understood, though that's still about half of the volume (7 chapters, > 100 pages). Usually, requests here are made for individual chapters, maybe two. I have access to the volume but the request would need to be further narrowed down (perhaps 50 or 60 pages) for me to be able to help out. — Pajz (talk) 13:30, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

Two video game magazines: Hyper issue 238 and GamesMaster issue 266 (plus MIT book)[edit]

  • "Hyper". No. 238. August 2013. p. 82. {{cite magazine}}: Cite magazine requires |magazine= (help)
  • "GamesMaster". No. 266. August 2013. p. 78. {{cite magazine}}: Cite magazine requires |magazine= (help)

For Impossible Road, I would like to access the pages containing the full reviews of the game from Hyper and GamesMaster. The magazine date and page information is based on Metacritic, so do not be surprised if somehow they got it wrong—an inconvenience I would apologize for.

I have a bonus source request. Since Amiga 500 needs more sources for verification, I would like to access the pages of the book below. The pages are based on a search for all the pages containing "500", and it should be stressed that the requested pages do not include those that do not contain the keyword, but are still clearly referring to the computer and thus may be relevant for the article. If such pages exist and you can find them, I would like access to them as well. Thank you, FreeMediaKid$ 23:44, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

The First Division 1809–1993, can anyone access this work via the British Library, London?[edit]

  • Wilson, P. (1993). The First Division 1809-1993: An Illustrated History (2nd ed.). Hereford, Germany: 1st Division. OCLC 29635235.

For:

According to the OCLC, the only copy is the British Library, London. Is anyone able to access this work, and if so, could they then provide any relevant information to establish the origins of the division? A RFC was held, but closed due to a lack of consensus. The information from that has now been copied to the 1st (UK) Div talkpage (with a link to that on the 1st Inf Div talk page). The debate focused on if the modern 1st Division is linked to a variety of similar named formations that stretch back to 1809, or if the modern division should be considered a separate entity. Editors are keen to know what the division themselves, per the publisher info on the book, have to say on the subject: in 1993, when it was published, did they consider themselves to be the same formation from 1809 or a different one with the same name (for example, the 1st Armoured Division founded in 1938 as the Mobile Division and renamed as the 1st Armoured Division in 1940)? When do they state they were formed? Do they provide a list of former commanding officers?

There does not appear to be a copy available online, or a snippet version to view on Google. I understand that this is a bit of a big ask and outside the usual specific page requests, but appreciate any assistance so that we can plan next steps on how to improve the cited articles. Thanks, EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 14:56, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

For Cueva de las Manos. Looking for information of Alberto Maria de Agostini's writings on Cueva de las Manos.

Thanks, Tyrone Madera (talk) 19:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

@Tyrone Madera: Based on Google snippet searches, there may be a typo in the cited year. This volume [1931] OCLC 7896081 has hits for "de Agostini" and "Mi primera expedición al interior de la cordillera patagonica" in the referenced page range. There are no hits there, however, for "Cueva" or "de las Manos". --Worldbruce (talk) 08:05, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

Francisation de la langue nord-coréen/Frenchisation of the north korean language[edit]

For Romanisation du coréen: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanisation_du_cor%C3%A9en . Basically, in old North Korean postcards from the 70's to the 90's, the romanization used is a special kind that tried to use french orthography. I have never seen this anywhere else, the french wikipedia page on romanisation of the korean language for north korea is basically a carbon copy of the english page. If anyone knows any information about this romanisation system, then this would be heavily appreciated. All I can do for the time being is try to piece the rules back together by using individual documents and perhaps expand the french wikipedia page on this topic to include the curious "francisation" of korean used by the foreign languages publishing house.

Pollstar[edit]

Hi! I need access to Ricky Martin's full Box score history from Pollstar to use on his tours articles. Can anyone send me his full history or can I apply for the free access? (I live in Iran and I can't buy it by myself) Here are the articles that would use this source: Livin' la Vida Loca Tour, the One Night Only with Ricky Martin tour, the Black and White Tour, the Música + Alma + Sexo World Tour, the Ricky Martin Live tour, the One World Tour, the All In residency, the Movimiento Tour, and the Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin Live in Concert tour. I would also create articles for several other of his tours if I have access to his Boxscore data. Thanks. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 21:32, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

November 2011 issue of Famitsu Xbox 360[edit]

I am looking for a review of the video game Code_18, which according to Famitsu's website was printed in the November 2011 issue of Famitsu Xbox 360 (Japanese: ファミ通 Xbox360 2011年11月). Shipping costs for second-hand copies of the issue are too high for me as I live in Sweden, so I'm asking here if anyone happens to have access to a copy. For reference, this is what the cover of the issue looks like: [6].

For Code_18.

Do you mean Public Domain by PD. IDK it is public domain or not. I searched tried to search archive.org up til now couldn't get that one. Bookku, 'Encyclopedias = expanding information & knowledge' (talk) 14:31, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
Yes. Deepankar Ganguly, the incumbent Chair of Calcutta Municipal Corporation Archives has digitised all gazettes between 1924 and 1975. The documents are supposed to be available at the Amal Home Digital Archive. TrangaBellam (talk) 06:13, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

@ Thanks TrangaBellam for interesting info but I am not getting the way to access it. Does ica.org needs any specific browser or setting etc?

Regards Bookku, 'Encyclopedias = expanding information & knowledge' (talk) 08:37, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Update: The ica.org has not worked but I have come across one Digital Library of the West Bengal Secretariat and search their lead me to one Gazette 1st April to 30th April 1969 & 1st December to 31st December 1969 But that is neither matching the title as in google books nor could I come across content words ' Rabindra Sarobar Stadium ' I am looking for. One problem with this database service is neither it allows to save document to desk top nor it provide for text search within document and finding wanted text is a cumbersome task for any single person.

I'm not entirely sure, but if they're legislative works, Wikimedia Commons make me believe that these are in public domain. "Some government publications are not subject to copyright, including bills, acts, regulations, court judgments, royal commission and select committee reports, etc." per Commons:Commons:Copyright_rules_by_territory/Consolidated_list_N#New_Zealand.
I tried finding this in the online Archway service of the NZ Archives but couldn't locate it. RoseCherry64 (talk) 23:24, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

The English news builletin from Tanjug is in the British Library Daily/Weekly. I could not find any reprints archived in newspapers.com or newspaperarchives.com. The citation is quite ambiguous, it might also be a translated headline from a Serbian language publication. Finding this is probably a challenge. RoseCherry64 (talk) 19:03, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

Asia and Africa Today[edit]

For Benjamin Arsanis (no article exists yet, i'm working on it here). I don't know quite how to cite this but I'm looking for an article that appeared in an issue of the Soviet (?) journal/magazine Asia and Africa Today in 1978. According to Google Books the relevant portion (concerning Benjamin Arsanis) only takes up one page (which Google Books numbers 61). I can't view the full page on Google Books but it says that the magazine was digitized by the University of Minnesota, which in their database have an issue from 1978 if that is helpful. I don't know the precise issue of the magazine more than the year, nor the title of the article.

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: This is a book around 230 pages. What exactly do you need from it? I'm not sure if it's in my library, they seem to have something from the Alpenvereinshefte series, but I don't know if this volume is in their collection. RoseCherry64 (talk) 16:19, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Unfortunately, Google Books gives no information about which chapter I'd have to look in. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:21, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: You can see the table of contents at DNB (click Inhaltsverzeichnis for a pdf) RoseCherry64 (talk) 16:26, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
<Sigh> Looks like one would have to check the source page-by-page, there. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:31, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Looks like this volume is not in the library collection, unfortunately. RoseCherry64 (talk) 16:49, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

Both books are in Oxford Scholarly Editions Online doi:10.1093/actrade/9780198122937.book.1 and doi:10.1093/actrade/9780198122944.book.1. @Jenhawk777: The book is separated in both parts and chapters. The chapter numbering does not restart in each part. Are you looking for chapter 5 "The Hebrew Bible/Old Testament Before the Scrolls" in part 2 "The Dead Sea Scrolls and Scripture"? Or chapter 18 "Scroll Wars" in part 5 "Controversies About the Dead Sea Scrolls" (only chapter in this part)? RoseCherry64 (talk) 19:29, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
