Lex Fridman (/'lɛks 'friːdmæn/ FREEDman; born Alexei Fedotov (Алексей Федотов in Russian) is a Russian-American computer scientist,[3] MIT research scientist, artificial intelligence researcher, and podcast host.[4][5][6]
Early life and education[edit]
Fridman was born in Moscow and later moved to the United States.[citation needed] He studied at Drexel University, where he received a B.S. (Bachelor of Science), M.S. (Master of Science), and a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy).[7][8]
Career[edit]
Fridman's career began at Google, working on machine learning.[8]
Fridman is a research scientist and lecturer[9] at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[10][11] His work at MIT involves research into human-centered artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicle research, deep learning, and personal robotics.[8][12]
In 2017, Fridman worked on computer vision, deep learning, and planning algorithms for semi-autonomous vehicles.[13]
Fridman's work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.[14]
The Lex Fridman Podcast[edit]
The Lex Fridman Podcast (originally titled The Artificial Intelligence Podcast)[15][16] started in 2018,[17] and discusses "AI, science, technology, history, philosophy and the nature of intelligence, consciousness, love, and power",[18] unlike his previous show which was intended to be "more general and personal".[19]
Past guests include Elon Musk,[20][21] Joe Rogan,[22] Jack Dorsey[23] and Ray Dalio.[24]
Fridman's third interview[25] with Elon Musk discussed Musk's opinions on space exploration and cryptocurrency.[26][27][28]
