Resource Request

Fixing references and common medical problems!
Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

Finding a source[edit]

Tips for finding a source yourself
  • Send a request to the author(s) of research papers for a copy of their paper by email.
  • Check what sources are available to you in The Wikipedia Library – editors active for at least six months with over 500 edits, at least 10 of them in the last month, and with no active blocks have immediate access to the Wikipedia Library Bundle.
    • Available databases in the bundle include: Gale, EBSCO, JSTOR, Oxford and ProQuest
  • Consider applying for access to additional Wikipedia Library sources at The Wikipedia Library Card Platform.
    • Additional databases include: Newspapers.com, NewspaperARCHIVE.com, Project MUSE and Taylor & Francis
  • Search for periodical titles in the Wikipedia Library database index at The Wikipedia Library/A–Z.
  • Check on Google Books, or your local library or national library may be able to obtain it through an interlibrary loan or subscription.
  • Search Google Scholar for archived copies of journals in institutional repositories.
  • Check whether your alma mater's library offers electronic document delivery services for alumni, if applicable.

Note that sites like Library Genesis (LibGen) and Sci-Hub offer direct, free access to a large range of publications, but there are legal questions around their use and neither the Wikimedia Foundation nor the Wikipedia community endorses them.

Making a request
  • A request may be an open question or you may ask for a specific journal, article or work.
  • All kinds of sources are possible here: newspapers, magazine article, databases, encyclopedias, court decisions, laws, books, etc.
  • We cannot perform full book copy requests due to copyright. Please ask for specific pages that relate to the article(s) you need them for.
  • You may contact research helpers directly or make a request on this page.
  • To receive email without disclosing your email address publicly, configure your email in Special:Preferences.
  • Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, and date or identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc.
  • Indicate which Wikipedia articles are being improved.
  • Once a request has been fulfilled add the {{Resolved}} template.
  • Filled requests are archived.
  • Requests unfilled after three months will be archived.

Fulfilling a request[edit]

  • Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests.
  • Indicate which part or parts of the request is being handled so others do not duplicate your work.
  • Notify (mention) the requester using {{ping|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
  • You can:
    • point to a pre-existing electronic document by giving its URL ( http://... )
    • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service, provided it is legal
    • upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons and/ or Wikisource (but be careful that this does not breach your own institution's policies)
    • email a link or plain text to a requester using the Special:EmailUser feature but for attachments, you need to ask them to mail you first so you can reply.

Copyright tips:

  • Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
  • Share content in a limited manner that is targeted at as few individuals as possible to achieve a specific improvement on Wikipedia. All content is shared under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose in order to conduct research about topics on Wikipedia and/or to improve Wikipedia content.
  • Share copies privately rather than with a publicly accessible link whenever possible. Copyrighted articles from print publications or copies obtained through online databases should not be uploaded for unrestricted distribution via open websites. Preferably, do not share login access codes for entire websites; rather, share only an individual copy of a resource.
  • Remember that you take on the individual risk when sharing content, and act in a way that is comfortable and safe for you. Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks.

Rodong Sinmun newspaper articles/ whole paper and Pyongyang Times[edit]

I would like to use the articles for List of trolleybus systems, Trams and trolleybuses in North Korea and individual city pages listed below. Dates are in yyyy/mm/dd. Finding these articles would be extremely helpful.

Rodong Sinmun 2013/05/25 page 4, in theory it should be on kcnawatch.org but I couldn't find it there, for Sangnong and Sangnong mine
Rodong Sinmun 2001/01/28 page 3 for Trolleybuses in Pyongyang
Rodong sinmun, 2002/02/12 page 1 for above
1995/03/30 page 1 for Sangwon
1995/09/06 page 1
1994/02/18 page 1 for Pyongyang Metro
1994/05/26 page 1 for Trams in Pyongyang and Tatra T6B5
1992/01/15 page 3
1990/09/18 page 1
1986/04/07 page 1 for Tanchon and Komdok mine
1989/05/11 page 1
1986/04/16 page 1 to verify for Chongjin trolleybuses
1985/12/10 page 1
1984/08/19 page 1
1983/08/12 page 3
1982/05/09 page 3
1981/08/04 page 1
1966/05/28 page 1 for Pyongyang trolleybuses article linked above
1964/01/02 page 2 for Pyongyang trolleybuses
1959/02/02 page 2 for history of Pyongyang trolleybuses

Furthermore, I am looking for the full paper on these days to verify existence/ opening dates of these trolleybus systems, to be used in the list, since many are missing dates and to check the unsure dates. Some trolleybus networks are dubious, and the presence in Rodong Sinmun would be good to prove their existence.

  • 17 and 18 April 1992 for Kanggye
  • 17 March 1985 for Kimchaek
  • 4 and 5 August 1983 for Pyongsong

Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:12, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

You should file a FOIA request here for all your SERNAGEOMIN materials needed. Since they were created by the State of Chile, they should give them out to you for free. If you need help requesting it in Spanish, just ask. --Bedivere (talk) 23:35, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
@Bedivere: Are you sure? It seems like unlike say USGS SERNAGEOMIN is commercial. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:21, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: They appear to sell some materials and they may deny a request on such grounds, but so far I've been successful requesting books in physical format, not by Sernageomin but by other public agencies. They should provide them to you, at least those that are discontinued (out of print). I can help you out if you wish, so that you can request materials by the Chilean government agencies all by yourself in the future. Bedivere (talk) 18:08, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
Yes, please. I'm afraid though that many of these maps are recent enough to be in-print. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:55, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
I've requested the materials myself. Whenever I get a response (by next month, I think - 20 working days) I'll get back to you. --Bedivere (talk) 03:10, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, Bedivere. Added another item on the list, by the way. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:05, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
SERNAGEOMIN has responded today, 9 December, that "the requested information is available at the Sales Office of this National Service located in Av. Santa María 0104, Providencia, Santiago. Because of the health crisis, your request may be received by email, biblioteca@sernageomin.cl and mteresa.cortes@sernageomin.cl". Bedivere (talk) 02:19, 10 December 2021 (UTC)

Table of contents and index of:

  • Mohammad, Hasan (2012). Sandvīpa : śikshā-samīkshā (in Bengali). Chittagong: Sandwip Education Society. ISBN 9789843345400. OCLC 835623433.

To be followed by a request for specific pages.
OR
If you read Bengali or are up for a challenge, any pages mentioning the secondary school "গাছুয়া আদর্শ উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়", possibly shortly before or after pages 231–234, which I believe are about another secondary school on the island.

For Gachua Adarsha High School, at AfD.

Thanks, Worldbruce (talk) 21:32, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

@Worldbruce, it appears that the AfD you referred to is now closed. Would you still like access to the above material? Best, Tyrone Madera (talk) 22:53, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
@Tyrone Madera: The requested material would still be useful. The AfD was closed as a speedy keep on procedural grounds, but the article could be renominated at any time. It would be good to improve the article, if the book contains anything that could be used for the purpose. --Worldbruce (talk) 00:22, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

Les Frères Jacques[edit]

I have more or less finished a translation/adaptation of the French Wikipedia page on the singing group, Les Frères Jacques, into English. It is on a subpage of mine if anyone wants a look. I need some help. The French version lacks citations and en.Wikipedia has put a note on my version saying so. I have tried to see the article referred to in the scant French citations, in a magazine called Je Chante. It seems not to be available on line and I couldn’t find any help at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France. Does anyone know how I could access the article? Or for that matter, anything else that could be used to top up the French citations? MK Hendry MKHendry (talk) 17:25, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

The First Division 1809–1993, can anyone access this work and assist in a RFC and article improvement?[edit]

  • Wilson, P. (1993). The First Division 1809-1993: An Illustrated History (2nd ed.). Hereford, Germany: 1st Division. OCLC 29635235.

For:

According to the OCLC, the only copy is the British Library, London. Is anyone able to access this work, and if so, could they then provide any relevant information to the above mentioned RFC, and therefore able to also improve the above cited articles? The current RFC debate is if the modern 1st Division is linked to a variety of similar named formations that stretch back to 1809, or if the modern division should be considered a separate entity. Editors are keen to know what the division themselves, per the publisher info on the book, have to say on the subject: in 1993, when it was published, did they consider themselves to be the same formation from 1809 or a different one with the same name? When do they state they were formed?

There does not appear to be a copy available online, or a snippet version to view on Google. I understand that this is a bit of a big ask and outside the usual specific page requests, but appreciate any assistance so that we can plan next steps on how to improve the cited articles. Thanks, EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 14:56, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

Francisation de la langue nord-coréen/Frenchisation of the north korean language[edit]

For Romanisation du coréen: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanisation_du_cor%C3%A9en . Basically, in old North Korean postcards from the 70's to the 90's, the romanization used is a special kind that tried to use french orthography. I have never seen this anywhere else, the french wikipedia page on romanisation of the korean language for north korea is basically a carbon copy of the english page. If anyone knows any information about this romanisation system, then this would be heavily appreciated. All I can do for the time being is try to piece the rules back together by using individual documents and perhaps expand the french wikipedia page on this topic to include the curious "francisation" of korean used by the foreign languages publishing house.

Can you link to the JSTOR snippet please? Doc Taxon (talk) 13:46, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
I'm the unnamed other party here. If you search "Marie Sophie Hingst" on JSTOR it's the only thing that comes up ([6]). You have to make sure your preferences show all search results, not just ones you can access, otherwise it'll say there's no results. My hit says the chapter is called "Jüdisches Unbehagen" and it should be pp. 204-216 (unfortunately as I can't access the chapter there's no way to see the precise page number). ♠PMC(talk) 21:15, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
Google Books is giving me a preview of this chapter: you might try this link, although different people seem to have wildly different results with Google Books based on their locations. It seems to me that there's just one paragraph discussing Hingst (though I don't read German, so take my assessment with a grain of salt), which I've tried to transcribe (without diacritics etc.) below. Cheers, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 21:37, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

I would also create articles for several other of his tours if I have access to his Boxscore data. Thanks. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 21:32, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

If you're eligible, you can apply for Wikipedia Library access to a number of resources at https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/ - but Pollstar is not among them. There is a link to "Suggest a collection", so you can request that Pollstar be added there, but of course it is up to that site whether they wish to participate. AASHTO Quarterly article from Transportation Research Board[edit]

Looking to improve U.S. Route 101 and other United States Numbered Highways articles for their upcoming centennial, and this seems to have potential to plug a lot of uncited content. Looked around on Google Books and they don't have a viewable copy.

November 2011 issue of Famitsu Xbox 360[edit]

I am looking for a review of the video game Code_18, which according to Famitsu's website was printed in the November 2011 issue of Famitsu Xbox 360 (Japanese: ファミ通 Xbox360 2011年11月). Shipping costs for second-hand copies of the issue are too high for me as I live in Sweden, so I'm asking here if anyone happens to have access to a copy. For reference, this is what the cover of the issue looks like: [7].

For Code_18.

Calcutta Municipal Gazette Volume 89[edit]

Requesting one more page for same topic in the day, These were pre internet times with less online archives and need to reach to the crux of various sides with deeper research. This one I am trying to get Shaibal Kumar Gupta, ICS side of the story (hopefully). Snippet view available but need further info from the page for clearer view.

Do you mean Public Domain by PD. IDK it is public domain or not. I searched tried to search archive.org up til now couldn't get that one. Bookku, 'Encyclopedias = expanding information & knowledge' (talk) 14:31, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
Yes. Deepankar Ganguly, the incumbent Chair of Calcutta Municipal Corporation Archives has digitised all gazettes between 1924 and 1975. The documents are supposed to be available at the Amal Home Digital Archive. TrangaBellam (talk) 06:13, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

@ Thanks TrangaBellam for interesting info but I am not getting the way to access it. Does ica.org needs any specific browser or setting etc?

Regards Bookku, 'Encyclopedias = expanding information & knowledge' (talk) 08:37, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Update: The ica.org has not worked but I have come across one Digital Library of the West Bengal Secretariat and search their lead me to one Gazette 1st April to 30th April 1969 & 1st December to 31st December 1969 But that is neither matching the title as in google books nor could I come across content words ' Rabindra Sarobar Stadium ' I am looking for. One problem with this database service is neither it allows to save document to desk top nor it provide for text search within document and finding wanted text is a cumbersome task for any single person.

PC Hardware Games, again[edit]

3dfx Interactive mentions the cancelled but then-hyped Rampage chipset and the company's Spectre series of graphics cards that were intended to be shipped with the chipset, but is not supported by any citation discussing it. This source covers the subject retrospectively and seems to be the most definitive out of what I could find. If I am lucky, I may be able to find something else useful for the artcle.

Endnotes to Motoo Ōtaguro book[edit]

For Motoo Ōtaguro

I'm looking for the new introduction and/or end notes which is cited in the Japanese wiki article. This is in a few international libraries, even if you don't read Japanese, finding the right pages might still be doable. It's just a few pages according to the National Diet Library.
