Description
Aim
It was aimed to determine the correlation between social appearance anxiety and exercise addiction in this research.
Method
In the research conducted with the correlational survey model, 119 female (X age= 28.64±8.42), 104 male (X age= 26.68±7.28), a total of 223 (X age= 27.73±7.94) adults aged between 19 and 52 doing fitness and pilates have participated. In the research, data were collected using the" Personal Information Form"," Social Appearance Anxiety Scale" and" Exercise Addiction Scale". Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent groups t-test, and Pearson correlation analysis.
Results
When the research findings are examined; social appearance anxiety scores did not differ according to gender and type of exercise (p>. 05); It was negatively correlated with age and exercise year (p<. 05); on the other hand, it was revealed that it was not significantly related to weekly exercise frequency (p>. 05). When examined in terms of exercise addiction, it was found that the exercise addiction scores differed according to the type of exercise performed (p<. 05), but did not differ according to the gender (p>. 05); there is a significant positive correlation with weekly exercise frequency (p<. 05); It was found that there was no significant correlation with age and exercise year (p>. 05). On the other hand, there is a negative correlation between social appearance anxiety and excessive focus and emotional change; It was concluded that there are positive and significant correlations between the delay of individual-social needs and conflict (p<. 05).
