In addition to the nearly identical user names, Edson Rosa Brise created an account on 25 March 2010, after Edson Rosa was blocked on 24 March. The user began editing in the same manner Edson Rosa had: creating new pages describing companies on the Brazilian stock exchange, removing speedy deletion templates from those pages, and contributing to pages created by or edited by Edson Rosa (e.g. Cosan, Oi (telecommunications), Brasil Telecom, Eletrobrás).

If you take out the Henrique and Junior in the account name, it's spells out Edson Rosa. This similar to the last sock Edson Rosa Brise (talk · contribs) where the name was just a variant of Edson Rosa. Not only are the names similar, but the target articles are also the same which are Brazil related topics. Elockid (Talk) 17:34, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User:Edson Rosa was blocked on 7 April. Soon thereafter 187.10.134.199 edited Brasil Ecodiesel, a page created by sockpuppet Edson Henrique Rosa Junior, removing maintenance templates. On 8 April 187.10.131.184 edited two pages created by Edson Rosa, Tereos and Tereos Internacional, ‎again removing maintenance templates with no edit summary. Both IP addresses are from VELOXZONE.COM.BR in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Edson Rosa has a history of evading blocks, editing these pages, and removing maintenance templates from pages he created. A range of IP addresses from VELOXZONE.COM.BR were blocked as probable sockpuppets of Edson Rosa on 8 April. On 11 April IP address 187.10.130.90 (and possibly others - I haven't checked) began making similar edits to EBX Group, Brasil Ecodiesel, and Rio de Janeiro Metro, pages created or edited by Edson Rosa or suspected sockpuppets.

Kinha Oini created an account on 11 April and edited four pages and an a template created or edited by Edson Rosa; Kinha Oini has not edited other pages. This may be a coincidence, but Edson Rosa has a history of evading blocks. The Kinha Oini account was created about 30 minutes after the last edit from 187.10.130.90. Cnilep (talk) 18:24, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

CORRECTION: Kinha Oini created the page LLX Logística. But compare EBX Group, MD.X, MMX Miner, etc. created by Edson Rosa. Cnilep (talk) 19:05, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edson Rosa and three named sockpuppets have previously been blocked. The user has also edited from IP addresses in the 187.10.xxx.xxx range to evade blocks. Soon after the range block expired IPs from this same range began editing pages created or edited by Edson Rosa. Edson Rosa appears to have made his/her first contribution to a talk page here, after being blocked and without appealing the block status. Cnilep (talk) 14:49, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On 12 May 2010 a range of IPs from which Edson Rosa was suspected of editing (187.10.128.0/21) was blocked. On 14 June 2010, soon after the range block expired, Hanna Ravena created an account. That account has primarily edited pages created or edited by Edson Rosa, including Brasil Ecodiesel , Marfrig Group, LLX, and EBX Group, which s/he partially blanked. In addition, the user has created a number of pages describing Brazilian companies, including Marisa S.A., Cristália (pharmaceuticals), and General Motors South America. Edson Rosa and his/her sock puppets created many similar pages.

The IP address also seems to be exclusively editing pages describing Central- or South American companies in the same manner, making it appear to be a single user.

  •  Clerk endorsed - Edson Rosa is a stale account, so we can't do a CU there. What we can do, though, is check to see if Brise == Felipe (and others). Based on edit times, though, my guess is that this is meatpuppetry of some form, perhaps colleagues working together. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 16:59, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Brise Brise (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) is  Likely related to Edson Rosa (talk · contribs). Brise Brise frequently edits from a range which was blocked a few months ago because of Edson Rosa, and which has a very small number of users.

It is  Possible that Felipe4444 (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) is related to Brise Brise. Both edit from the same ISP, and the same general area. However, user agents do not match, and they both live near a very, very large city.

Rafapacker (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) is  Inconclusive. The IP does not geolocate, the user agent is dissimilar, and my queries returned little useful data.

Foxxygrandpa (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) is unquestionably Red X Unrelated to Edson Rosa or any of the other accounts listed here.

However, Foxxygrandpa is  Likely related to Rahlgd (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki). Both edited from the same IP, with the same user agent. Mapudunganpanzer (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) also edited from that IP, with the same user agent. (Mapudunganpanzer was blocked at the same time as Rahlgd).

  • Okay. I've blocked and tagged Brise Brise and Foxxygrandpa as sockpuppets. I've also blocked Felipe4444 on behavioral grounds - more specifically, there's a lot of overlap in that account with the others, and these edits are on very specific articles. As Rafapacker has only had one edit, I'm leaving it alone for now. Relist if there are further developments. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 05:01, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Account was created May 2011 Special:Contributions/Isa Roarte, approximately two months after Edson Rosa's previous suspected sock puppets were blocked (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Edson Rosa/Archive#11 March 2011). Like Edson Rosa and approximately 25 suspected sockpuppets or IPs, Isa Roarte edits articles about Brazilian companies, does not use edit summaries, and does not comment on talk pages. Several of the pages Isa Roarte edits, such as Petrobras Argentina or Eletrobras, were created or edited by Edson Rosa and his suspected sockpuppets. See for example: [3], [4], [5], [6]. Cnilep (talk) 13:50, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

From their talk pages, it also appears that both Edson Rosa and Isa Roarte have uploaded several image files of company logos, either without license information, or with a claim that the uploader is the image creator or copyright holder. Isa Roarte uploaded File:Vigor logo.jpg, File:RaiaDrogasil.logo.png, File:InterCement.logo.png, and File:Banco Btg Pactual Logo.png. Edson Rosa uploaded about 20 logos, including File:Aracruz Logo.jpg, File:CLIlogo queirozgalvao.gif, and File:All-logisticalogo.jpg. One reason for Edson Rosa's indefinite block was copyright violation. Cnilep (talk) 01:01, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comments by Beagel

It seems most likely that Edson Rosa and Isa Roarte are the same person due to their edits' pattern. In addition to the scope (companies of Latin America, particularly companies listed at BM&F Bovespa), there are following similarities:

  1. No edits summaries whatever, except automatic summaries;
  2. No responses whatever at own talk page/articles' talk pages (no single edit at own userpage or talk page);
  3. copy-pasted additions from sources;
  4. using a full stop (.) as a separator for thousands, particularly for a number of employees in the company infoboxes;
  5. using the old-type company infobox template which was modified already several years ago;
  6. adding references as bare url-s in the form <ref>[http://www.example.com/]</ref>

Of course, one-by-one all these things may be co-incidents, but all together this is enough for WP:DUCK. Beagel (talk) 16:33, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mila Stam has edited several pages created or frequently edited by Edson Rosa or its sockpuppets, including Brasil Kirin (frequently edited by Isa Roarte), Minerva Foods (Brise Brise and Isa Roarte), EBX Group (Kinha Oini, Isa Roarte and Edson Rosa), Tereos Internacional (Isa Roarte, Brise Brise, Edson Rosa), Corficolombiana (Isa Roarte and Edson Rosa), General Shopping (Isa Roarte, Brise Brise, Edson Rosa), Aliansce Shopping Centers (Isa Roarte, Brise Brise, Edson Henrique Rosa Junior, Edson Rosa), Grupo Argos (Edson Rosa), Banco de Bogotá (Isa Roarte and Edson Rosa), Bancolombia (Isa Roarte and Edson Rosa), Multiexport Foods (edited by Isa Roarte, created by Edson Rosa), Soriana (Isa Roarte), and Template:IGBC Colombia companies

Most of Mila Stam's other edits are to pages related to companies in Brazil or the Americas, Edson Rosa's favored topic.

Mila Stam also uses the following styles noted by User:Beagel as typical of Edson Rosa's style in the 8 January 2013 archived case.

  1. No edit summaries (Also no edits to Talk pages, except page moves. Edson Rosa made virtually no talk-page edits, but this unsigned IP edit on Talk:EBX Group purports to be from Edson Rosa.)
  2. Only one edit in user talk (Edson Rosa made no such edits.)
  3. Full stop (.) as a separator for thousands (e.g. Sonae Sierra Brasil)
  4. Adding bare url references (see the above-linked Sonae Sierra Brasil, among others)

The IP address edited three pages edited by Edson Rosa, Tereos, Even (company), and Camargo Corrêa Desenvolvimento Imobiliário. The IP editor also does not used edit summaries, but that is not so unusual for IP editors. IP addresses in the 187.10.xxx range have been blocked previously as possible Edson Rosa socks. The user started to edit as dynamic IP almost immediately after the block of Isa Roarte. I found reporting this meaningless as the editor used every time new IP address from Sao Paulo, so I did not see how it could be stopped. However, the edit pattern and the scope of interest was always the same and similar to Edson Rosa/Isa Roarte. Edits were usually limited to company infoboxes by updating financial data (which is positive) and implying earlier described weird formatting principles violating MOS, MOSNUM and OVERLINK (which is not so positive). However, as as IP it was impossible to create new articles but Mila Stam has during last weeks created a number of new articles about Chilean/Colombian/other South American companies. The bad thing is that in several cases this is done by copy-pasting copyrighted material. ISA S.A. was already speedy deleted for this reason and I have discovered today that also Forus S.A. and Enka S.A. are mostly copy-pasted. There may be more. The original reason for Edson Rosa block, before the block evasion became an issue, was exactly the same — adding copy-righted materials to Wikipedia. Beagel (talk) 18:13, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Although the editing pattern seems to be less disruptive than in the case of some other socks, removing the maintenance tags without addressing the issues ([16] and [17]) is a similar to Edson Rosa. The other similarity is that the editor does not use edit summaries. This does not necessarily mean that the editor is the same, but taking account the scope of articles it seems to be WP:DUCK.
