Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM ). Participants from around New England are invited to gather at Brown University to edit and create Wikipedia entries on women who have made significant contributions to the STEM fields. (If you'd like to also participate in Earth Science Week and International Archaeology Day , we encourage edits/additions to articles on women in paleontology, archaeology, and the geosciences.)
This event is co-organized by Wikimedia New England and the Science and Technology Studies Program ; Science Center ; and Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women at Brown.
Date: Tuesday, October 15th, 3:00pm to 8:30pm. Can’t be there the whole time? No problem. Join us for as little or as long as you like.Venue: Room 305, Pembroke Hall, Brown University. However, feel free to come up with your own ideas! In addition to the suggestions below, editors may consider cleaning up articles on more well-known women STEMmers, such as Rosalind Franklin , Marie Curie , Jane Goodall , Grace Hopper , Elizabeth Blackwell , Emmy Noether or Ada Lovelace herself. Helpful updates could be as simple as: Making sure reference links are still appropriate and functional; Adding new inline citations/references; Adding a photo; Adding an infobox; Adding data to more fields in an existing infobox; Creating headings; Adding categories; etc. Editors may also choose to focus on women in archaeology, paleontology, and geology as part of Earth Science Week and International Archaeology Day .
