- Image fails WP:NFCC#1 and #8. It doesn't help readers understand the article at all, and the image can easily be conveyed in words. Theleftorium (talk) 15:00, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per nom. The image does not aid the reader's understanding of any topic. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:21, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- After re-going over WP:NONFREE and Theleftorium answering my question, I remove my objection to the deletion and I now support the deletion. Gerry (talk) 15:33, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- We already have a free image of the subject and this painting lacks sourced (and indeed any) discussion in the article. fails WP:NFCC 1 and 8. Adds nothing significant to reader's understanding and is redundant to the existing free image. Peripitus (Talk) 13:12, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. There are a series of official oil paintings painted mostly by the National Artist of the Philippines painter Fernando Amorsolo that have served as probably the most common representation of Philippine presidents and are thus iconic. They are the basis of a series of postcards that school children routinely use as material for projects that may refer to the presidents. They are extremely well recognized by Filipinos and can be found at most any local bookstore. The current portrait was probably not painted by Amorsolo since he died long ago but is still part of the official series. It was just last week I saw a photo of her son the new president with this picture representing his mother on the front page of a local newspaper. To give you an idea of how iconic those paintings are in the Philippine setting and the absurdity this kind of request comes across to a local Filipino it would be akin to suggesting the images of the presidents on the face of Mt. Rushmore should not be shown because there are other pictures of those American presidents. Lambanog (talk) 09:33, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- non-free Time cover used to show a person (of whom we have a free image) appeared on the cover of Time. Could easily be conveyed with text alone - this image fails WP:NFCC#1 and WP:NFCC#8 Peripitus (Talk) 13:14, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong Keep. The picture should absolutely and emphatically not be removed. This is an iconic photo of Corazon Aquino and has been referred to in print in various articles and columns. This photo cannot be substituted and portrayed to mean the same thing. Words do not convey the picture as well as the picture itself. For example a close look will show that her pose parallels the pose of her deceased husband on the 500 peso currency note and reflects the symbolic link of her success to the sacrifice of her martyred husband. She is in business attire, a sign that the former housewife is there to do business. Furthermore this is not just any Time cover, it is a Time Person of the Year cover. Time's Person of the Year is drawn from an international body of candidates and gives notice that Corazon Aquino had international impact. Non-free use is perfectly legitimate in this case and should not be needlessly avoided. A less obvious detail is that Time Magazine had a special place in coverage of the Aquinos. When her husband Ninoy was assassinated, a Time reporter Sandra Burton was accompanying him and did one of the best jobs of covering the story. In Ms. Burton's obituary, her work in the Philippines was specifically noted. Judging by some of the rather intimate stories that Time been able to provide in follow up, the magazine has had superior access to the Aquino family since. This picture passes WP:NFCC#1 and WP:NFCC#8 even without a description. Lambanog (talk) 14:30, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Non-free image of a living person of whom we have free images. I cannot see the justification for this image and see its inclusion as simply decorative. Fails WP:NFCC#1 and WP:NFCC#8 Peripitus (Talk) 13:16, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. This photo is a historic & the official Malacanang Portrait of President Benigno Aquino III it is very rare & irreplaceable — 120.28.132.36 (talk) 11:17, 3 July 2010 (UTC) comment added by 120.28.132.36 (talk) 11:15, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
